Good Read

The story was intriguing however some of the descriptions were not as vivid as I would have come to expect in a Charles Todd book. However, the story was as intriguing as ever. Got lost with the purpose of the shooter, however it did not take away from the rest of the story.

Story
Years before the Great War summoned Bess Crawford to serve as a battlefield nurse, the indomitable heroine spent her childhood in India under the watchful eye of her friend and confidant, the young soldier Simon Brandon. The two formed an inseparable bond on the dangerous Northwest Frontier where her father’s Regiment held the Khyber Pass against all intruders. It was Simon who taught Bess to ride and shoot, escorted her to the bazaars and the Maharani’s Palace, and did his best to keep her out of trouble.

The Best Inspector Ian Rutledge book yet
Reviewed: 02-15-20
This was one of the most riveting Inspector Ian Rutledge novels yet. The characters were so well developed and I didn't feel like the ending had been rushed. The plot twist was very surprising, and I've read and listened to all of the series. Great work!

Enjoying Bess after the war. She is still the same focused carrying person eventhough the world has changed around her. I expect in the future things will get more dangerous as the cloak of her uniform will no longer protect her. Looking forward to the next edition.

Listening to the audio book was a pleasant change at work, than listening to music. It really helped me focus on my work.
