Cliche

Made it through this only by determination. Wanted to try a book by Woods, this one is so bad. There is a plot hidden behind needless and unbelievable spy sex, innuendos, and cliches. Waste of my time on this one. Perhaps written for a highschool boy who has never read a book and wants to giggle at stupid sex escapades. Did not like the narrator either. Really a no star rating.

True Detective/ Mystery Story

A very good crime mystery story where the detectives have to work to solve it. A variety of detective characters that add to the story and none of them are chain smoking alcoholics with gambling problems. I enjoyed the plot development, characters, and the narration. A good book.

Story
Like most gentiles in Nazi-occupied Paris, architect Lucien Bernard has little empathy for the Jews. So when a wealthy industrialist offers him a large sum of money to devise secret hiding places for Jews, Lucien struggles with the choice of risking his life for a cause he doesn't really believe in. Ultimately he can't resist the challenge and begins designing expertly concealed hiding spaces - behind a painting, within a column, or inside a drainpipe - detecting possibilities invisible to the average eye. But when one of his clever hiding spaces fails and the immense suffering of Jews becomes incredibly personal, he can no longer deny reality.

This is one of my favorite series. They all offer fast action with good plots. Once I start one I can’t put it down. Really good to listen to while running. The narrator is excellent as well. Start at the beginning and follow the whole series. Now I’m waiting on the next new one.

Good plot -weak dialog
Reviewed: 03-11-20
This seemed so very typical of this type of story. It is a story I like, a fast paced action thriller. But nothing new. Dialog seemed forced and unreal. Narration was hard to get around and subtracted rather than added. Still, not a bad book because the plot had merit. Worth a discounted listen ( that is how I got it).

Story
For his victims, for their families and for the investigators tasked with finding him, the senselessness and brutality of the Golden State Killer's acts were matched only by the powerlessness they felt at failing to uncover his identity. Then, on April 24, 2018, authorities arrested 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo at his home in Citrus Heights, Calif., based on DNA evidence linked to the crimes. Amazingly, it seemed, evil finally had a name. Please note: This work contains descriptions of violent crime and sexual assault and may not be suitable for all listeners.

Unsatisfied mystery with too much mush

The mystery portion of this book was good I thought. The ending left me unsatisfied. The plot was complicated and weighted down with way too much mushy romance. I got through it but do not recommend it.
