Once again fun story and bad performance

I wish the VA reading for Suki was the narrorator for the whole book. The other two are not doing a good job.

Good story not great performance

The voices were fine. I really liked the one that was reading the 3rd person parts. She had a nice voice and was decent at distinguishing voices without them sounding horrible. The other two, it was a little difficult to take them seriously when reading for other character and they kinda flat in their reading. When they read for Okame, it sounded like they were directed to do their best Rick from Rick and Morty impression. I did appreciate Tatsumi’s reader’s pronunciation of Japanese words. It sounded natural but as for Yumeko’s reader it sounded like the American bastardiazation of Japanese words. Over a decent experience but I lowkey wish I’d just read it physically.

Story
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Loved this one. Very cozy and evocative writing. Also, it’s gay, which is a win to me.

Holy cake, it’s bad
Reviewed: 06-21-19
The performance would have been better but hearing the actors do impressions of other people’s voices was so awful, especially the accents. I don’t understand the point of having a full cast if they aren’t reading their own character’s lines. As for the story, the plot could have been so good but it falls short with the flat characters and awkward writing. I can’t bring myself to care about the characters.
Also, authors? Phrases like “holy cake” are bad.

Amazing story

I really respect the way this story ended (but that doesn’t mean I’m not longing for more.) There were parts where I thought the reading was a little choppy but overall it was really well done.
