Story
After the old gods warred and drove themselves to extinction, the cataclysm of their fall shattered the land of Vigrio. Now, power-hungry jarls carve out petty kingdoms, and monsters stalk the shadow-haunted woods and mountains. A world where the bones of the dead gods still hold great power, promising fame, and fortune for those brave - or desperate - enough to seek them out. As whispers of war echo over the plains and across the fjords, fate follows the footsteps of three people. All three will shape the fate of the world, as it once more teeters on the edge of chaos.

Too much ridiculousness
Reviewed: 06-22-24
I am a big fan of post apocalyptic fiction and especially EMP themed stories. I listened to the full six book collection but at many points it was very difficult to continue because of the stupidity and ridiculousness of the plot:/ Way to many dumb decisions by the main characters, one of which is a nuclear scientist and another someone in the CDC. They act like total fools over and over and over again and no intelligent person would make such foolish decisions even in the face of such adversity. I do not recommended it and quite frankly wish I had not wasted my time:/

Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

It is a hard book to listen to, lots of pain and anguish, but so much love and happiness as well:) This story will stay with me for a long long time and I thank both the author and the narrator!

I couldn’t even finish the story because the narration is soooooo bad! Did the author listen to this? Did he think it portrayed his story properly ? I like the other books by Matt Goldman but can’t even pay attention to the story because of the AWFUL narration. I have listened to other books with the Pinchot as the narrator that were fine but this just stinks😳
