So, I almost liked this story. It addressed a lot of the issues shows like The Walking Dead don't cover. - like zombies winter = zomcicles. However, the main character's love interest is annoyingly perfect aka one dimensional while the heroine was constantly self deprecating and SPOILERS:

NO ONE important dies. Even if you think someone is dead, guess what, they ARE NOT. It's fine if you just want a passable zombie story but I'm returning it.

This book made me cry. It was a great balance of emotional and intellectual. A great new twist on a zombie apocalypse novel that can be enjoyed by those who don't enjoy the typical zombie apocalypse book.
The narrator was perfection. Love, love, love. Will listen again.

I was really invested in this book- but I wasn't satisfied with the ending. It was trying so hard to be poetic that I felt like the author got lost.

I don't give 5 star reviews often. This book is great. The characters are textured, the heroine is intelligent, emotional and brave. I think that the discussion about slavery could have been developed more fully but was handled well. I bought the sequel before I finished the first book, so I'm committed!

This book had an interesting premise and I really wanted to love it. But the characters never seemed to truly connect and the narrator spoke in a monotone. That killed it for me.

This book was really well written and the narrator was lovely. However, I wash that the story had an extra twist. As it is though, it is a wonderful (if predictable) version of Beauty and the Beast.

I liked this story to a point that I could just stop listening. I'm planning on reading the sequels. The plot itself is a good one: girl is taken in a flash of light and returned 5 years later with no memory of any time passing. It was the romance that irked me. Kyra goes from being in love with her boyfriend to falling for his brother very quickly. All while hating her ex for falling for her best friend over the 5 years she had been gone. Flimsy. Even though I ended up liking Tyler's character in the end. I think the narrator saved the book. She is extremely talented.

If you are looking for an excellent coming of age story set in an ash covered world you've found it. I love apocalyptic stories. I love this one because, not only is it well written and well researched, it also made me think: what would I do? How would I react?

The narration was ok. Personally I find switching between narrators kind of annoying - and it was in this. However, they were good readers, which almost made up for it.

The story was the real stumbling point. The plane crash and - twist - time travel was interesting enough that I stuck with it but, sadly, the meandering style I noticed early in the book got worse until it bombed out entirely in the end. There was no satisfying conclusion... Unless it pertained to romance. But the romantic connection in the book was blah, so I didn't care about that anyway. 3 stars. Not worth it.
