Story
Graham Greene’s evocative analysis of the love of self, the love of another, and the love of God is an English classic that has been translated for the stage, the screen, and even the opera house. Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man) turns in an authentic and stirring performance for this distinguished audio release.

Slow, average story
Reviewed: 04-02-24
Narration by Firth is great. The story was predictable and honestly a bit boring. It took me months, on and off, to finish it because it felt slow and redundant. It felt very slow and tedious when he read journals. I really wanted to love this classic, but I wouldn’t listen to it again.

Story
Ten years ago, six friends went on vacation. One made it out alive... In that instant, college student Quincy Carpenter became a member of a very exclusive club - a group of survivors the press dubbed “The Final Girls”: Lisa, who lost nine sorority sisters to a college dropout's knife; Sam, who endured the Sack Man during her shift at the Nightlight Inn; and now Quincy, who ran bleeding through the woods to escape the massacre at Pine Cottage. Despite the media's attempts, the three girls have never met.

Fun read!

I enjoyed this book, it was a quick and fun read. I didn’t predict the ending either. The only issue is the narrator, her voice can seem robotic at times, but she’s not performing the whole book. The voice actor for Quincy makes up for it!

Story
Zero is just one of 20,000 people aboard a spaceship bound for a new planet set to be colonized. The journey is over a century long but luckily, everyone is in stasis, so they’ll be safe and sound asleep during the trip. Everyone that is, except for Zero, whose pod has malfunctioned, waking him up a hundred years early. His initial excitement in roaming the ship alone quickly turns to a heart-stopping interstellar adventure when a family of space pirates show up, trying to hijack the ship and take the colonizers hostage.

My kids loved it
Reviewed: 01-19-20
My kids are 6, 9 and 12. They loved it as a bed time story on school night. My oldest and youngest have adhd and they were very interested, sat still and were ready for bed early to listen to it. They are bummed there’s no second book, that’s how much they enjoyed it.

Interesting, but glad it’s free

I got this for free, it’s short, but kept my attention when I was multitasking. I liked it, but don’t use a credit, wait for it to be on sale or make sure you buy it cheap. Fun for Halloween, nothing too scary, sexual or violent for teens too.

I enjoyed this book, it was fun and cute. There were quite a bit of laughs. Nothing really deep, but a good book that didn’t require lots of concentration when I was driving.
