Ah! This series has a chunk of my heart. The story, the magic, the culture, the longing, the devotion, the perspective. *chef’s kiss* Tahereh knew what she was doing and the narrator did too. This was exquisite to listen to and an absolute joy to dive into. I only wish I could immediately immerse myself into the next book in this series.

The character development is slowly moving- the writing felt a little sluggish. I’m interested enough to know what happens and continue onward but the female narrator is truly the biggest hindrance to my enjoyment of the series. I cannot get over the continual mispronunciations from a profession narrator- it’s actually added a degree of entertainment to the story experience. I think I may start saying ‘sofTen’ in real life as a little inside joke with myself.

This female narrator sounded like she was narrating a commercial instead of a book. I thought I was listening to AI after hearing the pronunciation of the silent T in ‘softening’ and the silent W in ‘sword.’ The plot and writing felt a bit stiff but the premise was interesting.

I haven’t devoured a book this good since finished the Throne of Glass series. I thought Sarah did an amazing job expanding and evolving this series in conjunction with her other works. As always, this narrator continues to be absolute favorite and it was a treat to hear her take on another SJM book. Loved this journey.

I enjoyed the disability representation as someone with the same disability as the FMC. The book overall was a bit ‘meh.’ If I had to give it a grade, it would be a Meh
I enjoyed it but it wasn’t earth shattering.

This was my 85th read for the year and unlike many popular books as of late, it was creatively intriguing. The magic and plot advanced a good pace- giving just enough to help you understand but not enough to take away the enticing mystery of the plot. I’ll be diving right into the second- can’t wait.

I was absolutely heartbroken when I realized that I could never read this for the first time again. Sarah J Maas owes me for emotional damages after this. The culmination of character arcs and plots/subplots coming to a head in this book is one of the greatest feats I’ve ever had the privilege of experiencing. The lines and moments of this will be written onto my heart for a lifetime. I cannot praise the way Sarah weaves her stories and series together enough. The battles, the magic, and the relationships were beyond astounding in this magnificent end to the Throne of Glass series. Kindgom of Ash shredded my soul in the best possible way. I only wish it wouldn’t end.

We have a good protagonist, well-written character arcs, foreign political intrigue, battles, and enemies to lovers. If you love pride and prejudice but also love fantasy, world building, and maybe some Bridgerton- this is for you. It’s fresh! This entire series kept me intrigued. After reading 60 romantasy books this year, Rowan was a nice reminder that not every author needs to reduce, reuse, and recycle all of their plots and characters. It’s is a bit less fantasy than what I was expecting- the world building is more centered on the political plots and peoples. Think less fantastical fae and more fated foe.

The characters are so contradictory but not in a compelling way that drives the plot. It felt like reading a dirty fan fiction dedicated to the notorious conspiracy organization that starts with a ‘Q’ …instead this series uses a ‘Z’

It’s just not super plot dependent so if you don’t care about that and you are okay with the trigger warnings then you’ll feel differently than me.

Was pleasantly surprised by the dystopian/psychological aspects of this series. The YA romance of this series is one of my absolute favorites. I wish I could get more of these characters after it’s all over. Juliet’s narration felt a bit one trick pony- I liked the various character voices but wanted more from the main narration voice.
