Story
Sean Bailey, the older brother of my lifelong best friend, has always been a surly, temperamental pain in my ass. But sometime during the last few weeks, I’ve gone and fallen head over heels for him. Gruff and charming, charismatic in his own way, I’ve found myself looking past my preconceptions and discovered a whole new side to Detective Dick - a side I could fall in love with. But life isn’t always easy - it can change course in the blink of an eye. Sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad. I know this because last night I experienced both sides.

Poor continuation of book one
Reviewed: 12-01-24
So book one was a fun Frenemies to lovers story about a best friend older brother becoming a bodyguard. The book ended with a cliffhanger and book 2 picked up where that left off. However, book 2 had no interesting story. It was simply an evolving romance between two people. Very boring.

Story
Sometimes I want to punch that smirk off Atlas McCallister's pretty face. He's cocky. A troublemaker. A pain. And, unfortunately, my stepbrother. We've been fire and kerosene since our parents got together, and to keep from exploding into fistfights, we've used challenges, dares, and bets to battle out our differences. Our past bets have been a little inappropriate—scandalous, even—but Atlas's latest bet has gone too far. Do I really believe if he loses, my straight stepbrother is gonna mess around with a guy? And not just any guy: me, his rival and nemesis?

Griff’s caution and Dante’s cockiness make them an unbeatable team. To protect his buddy, there’s nothing Griff wouldn’t do… until a nearly bankrupt Dante proposes the worst possible solution: HotHead.com, a gay porn website where uniformed hunks get down and dirty.

It took me a minute to get into the story, but the dialogue is snarky and hilarious, and the narrator Charlie David makes it even better. I laughed out loud many times, and actually teared up many times. Great book I read it two years ago, and was delighted to read again today (Audible)

The narrator was great. The plot was complex enough to be interesting with an unexpected ending. Thankfully the story stands on its own without unnecessary sex.

Jaded cop Vic D'Amato saw something supernatural he couldn't explain during a shootout several years ago in Pittsburgh and relocated to Myrtle Beach to leave the past behind, still skeptical about the paranormal. Story
My life is as predictable as it comes: I go to work at my security job, I hang out with my friends, and I spend my free time alone. I don’t want or need anyone or anything else. Then I’m assigned a night contract with Jordan, who’s my complete opposite, and my world is flipped upside down. Jordan is friendly, outgoing, and nothing like the men I’m usually attracted to. He’s also big, confident, and can turn me to putty with just his words.

I was hoping for more of a storyline, but there really isn’t anything but the imagined romance between the two. It seemed the second half of every chapter was sex.

Over 80% of the story is sex and lust and aside from being nauseating to hear, it’s hard to get into the story. I gave up at chapter 11.
