Story
Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant.

Worst Narration Ever!
Reviewed: 03-28-23
This book is good for a dark romance. I honestly didn’t hate it but the voices, especially the male, was the worst I’ve ever come across! It put me off to the point I nearly DNF the book. The accents changed from harsh accents, to softer accents then back again and so on. The pitch changed, and it was way too dramatised, especially at the wrong points within the story. There was no ‘flow’. Plus the male characters all sounded the same so it was a bit harder to follow in that regard. Don’t waste your credits, rather read the book for this one.

Story
I"m in the business of creating fairy tales. Theme parks. Production companies. Five-star hotels. Everything could be all mine if I renovated Dreamland. My initial idea of hiring Zahra was good in theory, but then I kissed her. Things spiraled out of control once I texted her using an alias. By the time I realized where I went wrong, it was too late. People like me don"t get happy endings. Not when we"re destined to ruin them.

The usual enemies to lovers…
Reviewed: 02-22-23
While I enjoyed this book so much, there wasn’t much that stood out for me. It’s the usual enemies to lovers storyline where they breakup close to the end and then makeup and live happily ever after with all their dreams come true. I’m not 100% sure what all the fuss is about. This book has been way over hyped…

Of course I want to be like them. They"re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever. And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe. One terrible morning, Jude and her sisters see their parents murdered in front of them. The terrifying assassin abducts all three girls to the world of Faerie, where Jude is installed in the royal court but mocked and tormented by the Faerie royalty for being mortal.

I won’t lie, it was a slow but enjoyable start. However, the story picks up pace as you go along and by the end, it’s a full on sprint to the finish. There are a few plot twists that I did not see coming which just kept me glued to the story. I highly recommend if you’re into complex fairy kingdoms with a bit of confusion and a touch of violence. This is not for the romantics 😉

They are the Beautiful Ones, Loisail"s most notable socialites, and this spring is Nina"s chance to join their ranks, courtesy of her well connected cousin and his calculating wife. But the Grand Season has just begun and already Nina"s debut has gone disastrously awry. She has always struggled to control her telekinesis: the haphazard manifestations of her powers have long made her the subject of gossip - malicious neighbours even call her the Witch of Oldhouse.

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

Your typical cutesy romance.

My first book by this author. Probably my last too.
I knew where the story was headed from the beginning. There weren’t any real surprises until the end and even then, not that surprising.
The background noises made the story more immersive but honestly the whole thing just felt like one really, really long podcast. Not my type of narration but we’re all different.
Overall, though it was a fine listen, I’m glad I didn’t lose a credit over it. I would’ve been so upset.

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.
