Story
To master anything, one must first master themselves–one’s emotions, one’s thoughts, one’s actions. Eisenhower famously said that freedom is really the opportunity to practice self-discipline. Cicero called the virtue of temperance the polish of life. Without boundaries and restraint, we risk not only failing to meet our full potential and jeopardizing what we have achieved, but we ensure misery and shame. In a world of temptation and excess, this ancient idea is more urgent than ever.

Who was this rumpled guy in cargo shorts and limp white socks, whose eyes twitched across Zoom meetings as he played video games on the side?

Story
An expert, story-driven account of how Coinbase won the cryptocurrency game and set itself up to lead the future of banking and blockchain-based trading. This is the story of the people who made Coinbase, per PitchBook, “one of the most valuable startups in the US,” including the stoic, preppy founder and CEO Brian Armstrong and the bitcoin-obsessed former lumberjack Olaf Carlson-Wee, who turned their backs on the first generation of wild-eyed Bitcoin prophets to build something more profound and practical.

I didn’t think listening to a story about how cryptocurrency and blockchain came about would be so much fun! This is not a book for a technical but for anyone who wants to know more what’s been going on in the world we are living — and the most revolutionary technology to date. The narrative is also great. Thank you!

A great listen to get to the mind of one of the best singers of all time
Reviewed: 04-24-22
I have to admit that I don’t understand most of the book. But I feel that if I could go back and listen to it again I will get more out of it. The mind of this person is very complicated and the way he explains them isn’t always easy so that is a gap there that I think any listener would have to take into account.

I pick up this book because of the in tweaking title. I listen to it when I was going to bed the first night and it kept me awake because I didn’t wanna go to bed at all after having a listen to the first half an hour. It is a very good book. I think it’s truly amazing and how the narrative can be so powerful for a topic that people may overlook that’s not so important. The narrative is also very very clear.

I didn’t think much when I pick up this book from audible’s free catalog. I never heard of the name of the author, so I didn’t not even have any expectation at all. But it has turned out that this is one of the best — if not the best — books I have ever read in storytelling. It’s short, to the point, informative, and extremely inspiring. I especially like how the book takes the readers through all the mechanics of good storytelling, while helping readers become good storytellers with wonderful prep talks. I recommend this book to everyone who wanted to be better storyteller and presenter.

A good intro to the Middle East
Reviewed: 01-04-22
I just came back from Dubai so I wanted to learn more about the Middle East. This book seemed like a good one because it was short enough for me to finish in one go. The storyline was quite sharp and interesting. It kept me going while exercising and doing house chores. But there are a lot of sentimentalism and sometimes fragmented story lines which I didn’t quite understand. I probably would go back to listening to it one more time just to learn more about the Middle East. I think it’s a good book that I would recommend to anyone who wanted to learn about the Middle East and don’t have much time.

I said to myself, “what the hell, let’s just give it a try since I can always return it.” And after that, the rest is history. The book is great. I like the stories and the well balanced narratives. It’s not the kind of book that teaches you how to be tough. The book has a lot of examples and stories but you need to feel convinced otherwise it won’t work. It worked on me to a degree only. I think there should be more details on techniques on how to crate the sense of mindfulness.
