Exactly what I’d hoped it would be.

While not an oral history, this book has all the elements of my favorite oral histories like “Please kill me” and “Edie.” I finished feeling like I knew the artists and The Slip.
I very much appreciate the last chapter. It was exciting to see that the author was taking away the same impressions I had about the relevance today of a place like Coenties Slip during the mid 20th century.

Story
Start at the End offers a new framework for design, grounded in behavioral science. Technology executive and behavioral scientist Matt Wallaert argues that the purpose of everything is behavior change. By starting with outcomes instead of processes, the most effective companies understand what people want to do and why they aren't already doing it, then build products and services to bridge the gap. Wallaert underscores with clarity and humor how this approach can improve the way we work and live.

When I saw all the prior reviews slamming this book as being a bunch of woke indoctrination by a “Trump hater,” I KNEW I had to buy it.
This is a thorough, easy to understand introduction to employing behavioral research and tactics for your business—proven, powerful stuff. My deepest wish is that all the anti-democracy Trumpists out there avoid it like the plague and never benefit from its insights.
I like it when authors read their own books, and this one is no exception. He certainly has a distinctive style that may not be everyone’s cup of tea. But I’ll take it any day over the experience with the most recent audiobook I purchased here. (It’s clearly computer generated and sounds like a steroid-addled dude after a lobotomy on Quaaludes.)
If you’re a reasonable person in product management or development, you’ll benefit from this book.
