I really like Walter Isaacson and don’t know why he wasted his time and talent on this unworthy person. My brother-in-law really liked it.

No apparent plot, too many characters. Hard to latch on. 15 word minimum! Humbug. I’ve said enough. Blah, Blah, Blah,

This is a story of endless child beatings and sexual abuse. The relentless masochism is nauseating. There is absolutely nothing Amish about the family except for hiding from society in Amish-like clothing. If the account is true, it’s beyond heartbreaking but should be worked out in therapy. This is far from entertainment or enlightenment, which what I look for in a read. Couldn’t finish it.

I so much enjoyed following the thread of June Osbournes saga. Surprise I openers. A must read for Handmaid’s Tale enthusiasts.

Atmospheric, intriguing, a departure from the usual cop/killer mysteries. So refreshing. Loved the characters. Loved the narrators.

It might be a good book. I'll never know. The reader hashes it up so badly, after giving it 2 hours, I can't listen any further.

By the time I finished the 19 hours of Becoming, read by Michelle Obama, I felt like she was my closest friend and now I miss her. A part of me feels like I could call her up and ask her how she's been; the other part grieves that she is out of my reach. The story is riveting and hearing Michelle's voice telling her story is a wonderful experience.

There's nothing like a Rick Bragg book read by Rick Bragg. Sit back and enjoy the storytelling. A tall glass of sweet tea and a rocker on the front porch would finish the evening. Enjoy.

There are many books that I don't finish yet don't return. This is among the worst. With overly performing narrators, unlikable characters, and preposterous plot, there is absolutely nothing to recommend in this book. Returning this book.

This sure stretches the meaning of poetic license! Started off well, but quickly became ridiculously unbelievable. By the end, Scottoline didn’t seem to know.......well, won’t spoil it if you’re aching to read this. The writing is good and Scottoline shows a good sense of humor but where were the editor and psychiatric consultant. The narrator has a limitless assortment of voices that distinguished each character and helped engage my attention to the bitter end.
