Story
None of them wanted to leave Earth. It might have been nightmarish, but it was all they knew. Gary wanted to concentrate on his exams in hopes of leaving the CityBlock and its bullies far behind. Kailee wanted to become an actress. Darrin merely wanted to live. But when the three teenagers win a competition, they find themselves taking the trip of a lifetime, a voyage to a colony world where they can see how the colonists live.

This has been one of the harder books for me to listen to in this series. Mostly because I cannot imagine being these teens. I had to keep reminding myself that if I had had the same upbringing this would be how I would think.
Looking at the overall theme for this it is rather sad to realize that Christopher Nuttall has taken the darker aspects Of our society today and expanded on where these are going to take us if left to fester. I was waiting to see how this book would tie in to the rest of the series. I look forward to continuing.

While I think this was an interesting plot, I think that it got absurd real fast and ended up being really repetitive. It is not a book that wants to make me continue reading this series.

Not a Bad Idea
Reviewed: 12-01-17
I like Leonard Petracci’s take on super powers. I enjoyed that massive power doesn’t not mean you are the best.
The character growth (while it felt long and painful) was good. He could have progressed even more, but he is a good start.
Overall, this story could have done with some things being taken out and others to be expanded on. There were a lot of “unexplained” or “loose ends” once you are finished.
Will Watt isn’t a half bad narrator. I loved how he made his voice sound like someone was brushing their teeth while talking. While he could use some more inflection in his voice.
Not a bad start for writer or narrator.

This story was okay. It isn’t the best in the series, but it still had story. This story jumps years and every now and then I missed when it did.
Overall, not a series turn off, just one I probably won’t listen to again.

I am enjoying the world that Andrew Livadny created for us. You can tell there was a lot of thought and planning that went into creating this world. While I didn’t understand were some of the “random” plot lines were going at the beginning, they tie back into the overall arc.
Overall I found this to be an enjoyable read.

Really!?! Ugh!
Reviewed: 11-05-17
This book is not a good example of why I buy LitRPG books. The original book moved and you had a story. This one ... I feel like the story got sacrificed to make it all about the main character and his harem. The only other men in this story (I admit, I did not finish it) are grumpy, cranky old men.
I bought this book as I like adventure stories and I don"t mind romance in these as long as that is not the main focus. And really, romance is not what I would call the relationships in this story. If the main characters aren"t in bed, then it is talking about sex and it is all innuendoes. Really!?! That happened to the story. Just when you think that you might have gotten through it to the story ... not, just going out in the wild to show off the new girl to the other girls and back to bed. Ugh.
While I buy that the main character is exploring his playboy side. The sudden "I am in love with you" and we are now getting married seems way out of character for this guy.
I will not be continuing this series.

I Just Cant Anymore
Reviewed: 10-30-17
I feel like this series started out with the main characters being really strong. They had their weaknesses, but they could still stand on their own. I feel like in the last book our heroine has become nothing but a self defeating fop and uses this as an excuse to keep making really bad decisions. Maybe this story has just run on too long with all it"s over arching nemesis continually getting away. I was hoping that this book would pull the series back out, but I cant even finish it. I will be returning this book as I know I have no desire to listen any further.

Cute, But not Buying It
Reviewed: 10-26-17
I think this is an interesting premise, but it is written very much like the main charter is a teenager. Some of the characters are way over powered, but then the lowest of the low can take them out. Of course that leads our heroine to dramatically save the day.
I will be returning this book and not continuing the series.

Moving Forward and Eight Steps Back
Reviewed: 10-15-17
I don"t know if it is just me, but I feel like the heroine went from making character progress to becoming worse than when she started. She had made some good choices and then this ... ugh.
Making the Paladin have a more sorted background ... really? While on one hand I think okay, whatever, I feel like the author did this to give him a more bad boy vibe that could compete with his rival. Before this I really didn"t care about him all that much as I feel like he was a bit of a wallflower. While the changes weren"t horrible, I didn"t really buy into them either.
I had a feeling at the end of the last book that this "bond" thing was going to kill the storyline. It went from a fun mystery adventure series to a mildly good romance series.
