Hard scifi fantasy

This book is everything i love in scifi and then throws in fantasy elements. It discusses physics topics but also features characters with powers. Entertaining and unique. The all in one novel.

Story
God is dead. Died and fell into the sea. That's what Raphael, a despondent angel with luminous white wings and a blinking halo, tells Anthony Van Horne on his 50th birthday. Soon, Van Horne is charged with captaining the supertanker Carpco Valparaiso (flying the colors of the Vatican) as it tows the two-mile-long corpse through the Atlantic toward the Arctic, in order to preserve Him from sharks and decomposition.

God died and now we must tow him to his burial site amdist staunch opposition…. Irreverant and strange premise. Must be in the mood for it or its just too much. Not as many deeper meanings or intelligence behind it as i’d hoped.

Story
I>Shards of Honor is the novel in which Lois McMaster Bujold introduced the science-fiction world to Barrayar and Aral Vorkosigan, Beta Colony and Cordelia Naismith. From this beginning the author has created a multigenerational saga spanning time as well as space. Bujold is generally recognized as the current exemplar of the character-based science-fiction adventure story.

Slightly overhyped, aged storyline
Reviewed: 07-07-23
I will keep going with this series and i could see glimmers of its previous luster— but age didnt sit as well with this one as I’d hoped (the almost rape scene) and the main characters instantly fell in love for unknown reasons, and while it is a set up for a series… i hopes to relate to the characters more strongly. It did have some good parts, the war and the twists on a grand scale were fantastic and i will give this series another shot— but it wasn’t a page turner for me.

It is an older scifi but holds up well. Would recommend the graphic novel also.
The books follows a man who committed terrible sins against the planet’s sentient elephant-like life— and he finds understanding and redemption. Reminscent of anti-colonization (similar to native american ateocities) The themes are deep but are very well executed.

Fragmented…
Reviewed: 01-26-23
This book suffers from its summary, since it doesnt live up to it. The main characters change sexes and relationships to every combination possible in the first 5 chapters then switches to a prisoner of war story- almost like this story doesnt know what it wanted to be. I understand the author wanted it to feel fragmented but, imo it wasnt done well. The explaination seems more like a cop out than sense. It had potential tho….
