Leveling feels off
Reviewed: 07-08-24
I really enjoyed the 3 books thus far but the leveling system feels off and the lack of damage numbers and stuff also feels a tad off. One shot bosses with sneak attacks feels way too strong but overall I’m still satisfied and will buy book 4.

Overall it’s an okay book. I really would like more leveling, more explanation, more fleshed out skills and like more RPG all together. Being level 5 and already strong nearly killed the book for me.

Story
It was supposed to be a simple test flight, one that pilot Ariane Austin was on only as a last-ditch backup; intelligent, superhumanly fast automation would handle the test activation and flight of humanity's first faster-than-light vessel. But when the Sandrisson Drive activated, every automated system crashed, the nuclear reactor itself shut down, and only the reflexes and training of a racing pilot saved the test vessel Holy Grail from crashing into the impossible wall that had appeared before them.

A few minutes ago, Meghan Moretti's biggest concern was getting the kids' athletic clothes washed in time for practice this evening. Now, it seems that Earth has been forced into participating in some high-stakes intergalactic reality television. All electrical wiring has been slagged, and most combustibles neutralized. Some kind of evil space rodents are appearing on the front lawn, too.

I knew getting into this book it was about a family and thus I cannot relate in such terms. Started off great, middle kinda slow but by the end I was enjoying it. I feel like most of the people would be homicidal in this instances but a community working together was a nice change. Hopefully book 2 has more combat and progression as well as anything about the husband.

Story
When I was summoned to the family estate, I had no idea that my life was about to take a drastic turn. One moment I was good old Arthur, a young man with no real aim in life, the next I was in possession of my first four magical cards, on my way to become a Convoker! But if my grandfather had entrusted this huge responsibility to me, I had to prove worthy. I had to take on the life of an Adventurer and complete our lineage quest—a perilous search and rescue mission in the most treacherous parts of our lands.

Overall I enjoyed the book and the fast pace of it all. 2 weeks travel was like 20 words long and no real downtime or boring parts. The narrator sounded like Tidus from FFX and I couldn’t get enough (massive fan). I didn’t find to book too long or too short.

Story
We join Montana, recently returned from an impromptu study abroad trip, a bit wiser, a bit broader in perspective, and a lot freaked out by the once-dead person who's currently in his bedroom. Possible zombie sightings aside, he's finally ready to take his job as Duke seriously. And just in time too - not only are the politics of the capital rapidly closing in on Montana's little valley holding, but there are also goblins to negotiate with. Plus, that cult threatening to take the lives of his citizens.

Story
Arthur lives with his father, a fallen but proud former noble, in Border Village #49, along with the other good folks condemned to toil in service to the Baron. But Arthur has an edge: a stolen heart card that secretly fell into his possession, thanks to a dragon. It’s a priceless source of power for the Baron and the tyrant will kill to get it back. Invaluable, too, to a young man of spellcasting ambitions.
