The book itself is very well done and unique, I just feel like I am not it's target audience. I feel like I'd be taken out of the story more by the dialogue, humor, and themes if it wasn't for the fantastic performance by Danielle Mors. Danielle definitely sells the shit out of this book.
The book itself is pretty edgy. Murder, abused, bullying, assault, mean girls, violent bunnies, stinkyness, teenage boys are so scummy and only think with their members, kids referring to another kid as boss, and than the boss kid ordering a piss swirly be issues to a kid being bullied. Extreme bullying. inappropriate police. inappropriate adults. I was expecting something a bit dark, but wasn't expecting so much edginess.

Story
Logan Morrison always fought for everything he had, but it never was much. Growing up truly alone did that to you. One day, when taking on an extra tutoring gig to help out a cute chick with a quirky name, she ends up bringing him back to her place. Cool, right? Well, the next morning, Logan wakes up in chains and comes to learn that Cherry Cola is one beautiful and unhinged monster girl member out of three in a small Fresco City witch coven. Their plans for him? Servitude.

Why I am addicted to Harem Audiobooks.
Reviewed: 12-18-24
I was new to the harem style of books when Coven King was recommended to me. Honestly I am worried that I may of peaked early in my listening. The narration is top notch. Jonathan Waters does a fantastic job for his part but Aurora Bliss definitely does the heavy lifting of playing multiple ladies throughout the book and really selling the spicy scenes.
The writing is definitely a lot of fun and tongue in cheek. It clearly doesn't take itself too seriously but is still well done. I love the humor in the story and the character's banter. The story feels thought-out and developed, building towards something beyond the spice. The spice is well done as well, doesn't feel forced in and is well described. in audio format Aurora adds sounds to enhance these scenes as well.

Story
It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

I typically listen to sci-fi, fantasy and thrillers. Listened to this based on a recommendation on Reddit, and I absolutely loved it. it's so cute and wholesome. Both of the main characters are adorable. The story is well written, building to the reveal very well. I didn't see it at first but as the story continues it becomes so very clear how these two actually know each other. I'll definitely have to listen to more by this author.

I received this audiobook free, in exchange for a review, and regret that I may of never have experienced this if I hadn't. Additionally I want to state that I have only completed the first book in this collection and I am part way through the second book, but everything I've enjoyed about the first has continued through and I feel guilty for not reviewing sooner.
This adventure is very well written. The characters are constantly learning something new, being thrown into a new situation and facing new challenges. The story is constantly moving at a good pace, never dragging. There's mystery about events that have happened in the past for this setting that the story doesn't sillily explain. A war, Old World Magic, the characters seeing the strength, powers and weaknesses of others, that's not explained in an info dump. Some of it is a bit weird to me, but I'd rather the story hint at or explain in time rather just dumping all this information on my lap.
A well done adventure to listen to with so much bang for the buck.

A very different book

I want to note that I received a copy of this audio book in exchange for an unbias review.
I found this book to be very interesting and I am curious as to what inspired it. I imagine there are many similar books like this with a standard magic system, orphaned girls raised to be witches, by witches in a witch order, before being sent into the community to serve, but take our witches and any standard idea of magic and replace it with something very new and different.
The book additionally touches on some interesting themes likw loss, blame, guilt and forgiveness. I felt like it was very well written and the narrator also did a great job delivering this story. A complaint that I would express is that there are two characters that share similar sounding names that made it difficult to keep track of things for a bit.

A Gritty Sci-fi Noir
Reviewed: 02-14-19
Titanborn is a gritty noir story about a grizzled Collector (detective/bounty hunter) on the trail of a terrorist group. He's the type of guy that tends to work alone but is partnered with someone nothing like himself despite his protest. I know, I know. You've seen this one before.
But Titanborn does so much more. The world is gritty. Corporations have the real power (like now but worse) and the class system has left majority of people in poverty and in unrest. A disaster has altered life on Earth and mankind has expanded to other planets.
There's plenty of twist and turns as the detectives unravel the plot. I never expected the final moments of the book and I am very interested to see how these events play out in the future books.
R.C. Bray is outstanding as the narrator. I hope to hear more of his narration, in this series and elsewhere.
I was given a copy of this book, with the request that I left a honest review if I wished. I was happy to after enjoying the book so much.

A great conclusion to this story line.

A great conclusion to the Reckoner storyline. Does seem like there is a fourth book, but based on the bonus chapter from that book, it feels like that is more of an extra story, for those who really loved this world and the characters in it.
Again, very comic book inspired, super humans, alternate earth's, etc. If you've ever enjoyed that you'll likely enjoy this series, but this is book three of the trilogy. You likely know thst by now. The story is wrapped up very well. I can see why Sanderson is very beloved and I look forward to diving into his other worm.
There is one thing about these three books of the series of note. Each one takes place in a different location. A city that has been reshaped due to the Super beings that inhabit it. Book one has Chicago turned to steel by Steelheart. Book two had New York, flooded and overgrown with strange plant life. The location in this book was very interesting and something I'd doubt many would go to or even think up, and the author clearly realized his cool idea for a city, would actually be a huge pain in the neck.

This is a follow up to Steelheart, contains many of the heroes from that book as they join another cell of their group, in a new city, this time in the flooded, overgrown remains of New York City.
The story is fine for the most part. Enjoyable and fun comic bookish type of a read. If you enjoyed Steelheart give this one a listen. The twist the story takes are interesting and this one leaves you on more of a cliffhanger.
I feel like the narrator improved a bit from the last book, which is a great trend, of course.

A Super "Hero" Tale of Sorts?
Reviewed: 01-05-19
I've heard endless raves about Brandon Sanderson, and while this isn't one of the series that I have heard endless raves about, it seemed like it was easier to dip my toe into and get started.
The book starts off strong. There is plenty of action, and that's a bit important for a book set in a world of Supers. I really enjoyed how nothing ever seems to go right, keeping me hooked as scenes unfold.
It does a fine job of setting up the world we are set in, without over explaining everything. I was left with a few unanswered questions, that might be explained in a later book.
I feel like this book is probably written for teens, feels like a YA novel, but was a fun book as an adult who grow up on comics. The language is censored, but at the same time there's plenty of sci-fi that uses goofy "curse" words and maybe the writer is pulling on that goofy habit. Take Word A used in our world and swap it out with Word B that relates to this thing from this world.
The narrator did a fine job as well, and was a great choice for this novel.

An interesting glimpse of a dark future
Reviewed: 01-05-19
Future's Orphans is listed as the second book of a series, but it was easy to follow and enjoy as someone who hasn't had the chance to read the first book. I found the characters to be an interesting mix, the "heroes" are not your typical protagonist, very flawed. There is heavy use of slang in this book, but I found it easy to follow and it fits the story, as certain characters are meant to come from different cultures or to be uneducated due to their hard lives on the streets in this world.
The narrator, Anneliese Rennie, was a great choice for this story and does a fine job.
