I have recently been introduced to Rhod Gilbert, I have been devouring a lot of his work. This was a fun listen. I think he is a masterful story teller, and also quite humorous. I'm sure I'll listen to this again.

Cute. But Fortune is more fun.
Reviewed: 08-07-18
I LOVE Jana Deleon's other series(es). I picked this up expecting a fun paranormal cozy. It was definitely cozy. The story was okay, if not some what predictable. But the paranormal aspect was pretty lacking. There was a ghost, but he was a secondary character and I wanted more of him. I may continue on, but I won't be in a big hurry.

Interesting Story. Poor Editing.
Reviewed: 05-27-18
I relistened to this because my books club decided to read this book this month. And the editing for the audio is TERRIBLE. There are whole paragraphs that are repeated or sentences read over a few times. And not in a way that puts more emphasis on what the author is trying to say. This is clearly a mistake.
I liked Mattie, and if I'm going to be in someone's head for over 200 pages, I want to like the person I'm reading about. The story was interesting. It was sort of familiar but still felt new. A few plot points were expected but there were others I wasn't expecting. Not that there were huge twists, but it kept me guessing. AND the most important thing is that I would like to continue the story. I would love to see what Mattie, Eric and Officer Dan have in store.

Unfortunately, he's hindered every step of the way by Sinful's current mayor and all-around horrible person, Celia Arceneaux, who wants nothing more than to drive Carter to resign. When a game warden turns up with evidence that implicates a relative of Gertie's, Carter is left with no choice but to arrest the boy, even though no one thinks he did it.

Oh Gertie
Reviewed: 11-14-17
If you've made it this far into Miss Fortune Mysteries, you know how amazing and exasperating Gertie can be but this adventure just takes the cake though. Funny, sweet, and action packed as only Sinful can be - I absolutely devoured this book and I know I'll reread them again one day.
This includes a visit to the swamp bar, more sinful secrets, car cashes and some one ends up in the water.... but that could be almost any of these zany stories.

This book was pretty intense. From the beginning. It actually took me a while to get into because I missed Charley's normal snark and craziness. But it did come and it was just as magical as ever. I loved the relationship between her and Cookie even more.

When Prudence Alessandra Maccon Akeldama ("Rue" to her friends) is bequeathed an unexpected dirigible, she does what any sensible female under similar circumstances would do: she christens it the Spotted Custard and floats off to India. Soon she stumbles upon a plot involving local dissidents, a kidnapped brigadier's wife, and some awfully familiar Scottish werewolves.

If you love Carriger's other books you'll love this. Rue was great fun and it was nice to see the kids all grown up.
My one complaint is Moira Quirk's (who does a great job with everyone else) version of Lord Akeldama isn't what I wanted it to be. He's my favorite in the other books and hearing him played a different way was disheartening. Quirk is absolutely terrific with every other voice and is a fav narrator otherwise

For high-school senior Celeste Watkins, every day is a brutal test of bravery. And Celeste is scared. Alienated because she's too smart, her speech too affected, her social skills too far outside the norm, she seems to have no choice but to retreat into isolation. But college could set her free, right? If she can make it through this grueling senior year, then maybe. If she can just find that one person to throw her a lifeline, then maybe, just maybe.

I like this, it was quick and funny and Alex had a fun sense of humor.
My one narration comment was that the I thought the narrator sounded like a grown up Peppermint Patty from the Peanuts cartoon. Not a bad thing, just interesting.
