Story
For his victims, for their families and for the investigators tasked with finding him, the senselessness and brutality of the Golden State Killer's acts were matched only by the powerlessness they felt at failing to uncover his identity. Then, on April 24, 2018, authorities arrested 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo at his home in Citrus Heights, Calif., based on DNA evidence linked to the crimes. Amazingly, it seemed, evil finally had a name. Please note: This work contains descriptions of violent crime and sexual assault and may not be suitable for all listeners.

I thought I was getting a book. This is a podcast with really annoying background music and sound effects. Hard to force myself to keep listening. Don't waste a credit on this one.

such a great premise for a post apocalyptic story. Easy to buy into what would happen to society if the electric grid was destroyed. The characters are well rounded & believable. The narrator's voice gives the story gravitas. Well done!

Being from New Orleans, it was a struggle to get thru this book with all the inaccuracies. Simple things anyone from this area would be aware of. New Orleans has street cars not "trolleys." The ferry from Algiers to New Orleans crosses the Mississippi river, not a "canal". A young lady would never be sent to the French Quarter alone for safety reasons. Scam artists, panhandlers, junkies & thieves abound. There is no reason to go to the French Market for crawfish. Some of the cities' best seafood is available is in Algeries, but then you wouldn't be able to fill in space with the cliche second line & beignets. Geezer.

Story
FBI agent Drex Easton is relentlessly driven by a single goal: to outmaneuver the con man once known as Weston Graham. Over the past 30 years, Weston has assumed many names and countless disguises, enabling him to lure eight wealthy women out of their fortunes before they disappeared without a trace, their families left without answers and the authorities without clues. The only common trait among the victims: a new man in their life who also vanished, leaving behind no evidence of his existence...except for one signature custom.

OK Story - Bad Narrator
Reviewed: 08-11-19
This story was okay, nothing special & often predictable. Not up to Sandra Browne's usual standard. The narrator was awful. There was no distinction between character voices & I had to pay close attention to determine which character was speaking, at times. in addition it appears that the narrator has a speech impediment. Words were mushy & sometimes slurred. It was quite distracting. I will be careful not to purchase audio books with this narrator in the future.

Narrator is Awful

The story line was interesting but it was a struggle to bear listening to the narrator. There was no natural flow or emotion. Very halting & lack of feeling. I actually stopped listening twice & listened to an older book for a break. I finally suffered thru to the end. I would delete this one if I could. Not recommended.

Worst audio book ever!
Reviewed: 01-03-19
This was by far the worst "book" I have ever listening to. I feel like I was robbed of this time from my life. The use of sound effects does not replace a decent story or character development. It felt like I was watching TV without a picture. There was no narrative to describe the scene and way too much of the "ugghh, uggghh, slurp, slurp, scream, slurp, hahahaha, scream, slurp". Don't waste your time. Find a good vampire story to enjoy instead of this drivel.
