Story
After a broken engagement, Cher decides to leave heartbreak behind by signing up for a holiday house swap. For the next few weeks, she’ll ditch sunny California to spend her first Hanukkah in New York City, a time of snow-covered sidewalks, festive store windows, hot cocoa, and...cute neighbors? As Cher is moving into her temporary new apartment, Eliot is moving his ex’s belongings out, and he soon finds himself offering to play tour guide. He’s nursing a broken heart too, and spending time showing the beautiful traveler around is exactly what he needs.

Another great story by Sara Ackerman. She has a way of depicting the horrors of war in a way that’s not too heavy while interweaving a good and interesting story.

This was my first time reading this author, so maybe others are better? I hate writing bad reviews, but I just couldn’t get into this book. It developed a couple of characters on the surface but glazed over others that could’ve told a much deeper and more interesting story. And it was really anticlimactic.

The depictions of the Vanderbilts were interesting and encouraged me to read up on their history. I love books that have elements of real history to research. Babs was a wonderful character and I would love to read a book dedicated to her life story.
