Wonderful read and listen

Another book I read before I listened. Great story and just as I did when I read it I kept thinking that I'm reading a great book that when I get to the end it will be the end. Will i ever know how Cobi and Eric's sibling Relationship goes. The happy ending kind off, left me wanting more even though I knew it was indeed The End.

I am a big fan of E Lynn Harris. I read this book years before listening to it on Audible and just as it did then it gripped me again. Each character had their own distinct personalities. AJ being from NC, where I currently live thrilled me. He deserved better than what he received from Drayton. I loved that Maurice got his in the end.
Rest in Paradise E Lynn Harris

The narrator made it worse.
Reviewed: 03-29-24
Let me begin with this the story itself was a little hard to deal with but the narrator made it worse. His pauses were long and unbearable his tone was monotoned . The story itself though interesting was not helped by this narrator. If I could return this book for another and trust me I wish I could it would be because of the narration I would not recommend any book narrated by Mr. Hill I know he's trying but trying is not good enough.

Story
Their father is Luke Jensen, supposedly killed in the Civil War. Their uncle Smoke is one of the fiercest gunfighters the West has ever known. It's no surprise that the inseparable Ace and Chance Jensen have a knack for taking risks - even if they have to blast their way out of them. Chance is a bit of a hothead, good with his gun and his fists. Ace is more of a thinker, sharp as a snake bite and just as deadly quick.

I like the character development. How the relationship between Niyah and Jamilla began and grew. I found Jamilla to be self centered and wondered what Niyah saw in here. It left me wanting to know more about both women in hopes of understanding more about them. I don't know when the next part of their story will come but I'll wait.

I loved every minute of it. A gay romance with believable conflicted African American characters dealing with real situations, conflicts and struggles. The language and terms used may offend sensitive ears but in many communities that language and those terms are the cadence of the people and the lives of their community, Despite the language and the terms it was a great book and wonderful story.
the narrator was great. He helped to bring the characters to life and for me he was able to provide enough differences with the character voices that I forgot many times that there was one person voicing the characters,
I have been with Audible for many years and have purchased many good books but this was the first one that I felt moved to submit a review.
I want more of this story or books/stories like this!!!
