Great plot with lots of twists. Has intertwined actual history into story making it more believable. You have to listen to all three books in series. It’s a must.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...especially a dead one holding a grudge. Back on Deadwood's list of usual suspects, Violet Parker is hip deep in wild frights and fired-up females. After juggling bitter threats, haunted buildings, and vengeful ghosts, the last thing she needs is a pair of bullheaded detectives trying to pin another murder on her tail. Can Violet find the real killer before she ends up behind bars? Or worse, on a slab at the morgue.

I Agree:Too Much Sex
Reviewed: 01-21-22
I just finished the 7th book. The stories are interesting and entertaining. The characters are well developed. The narrator is great. However, I agree with many of the other reviews that there is too much sex and too explicit. I too fast forward through the sex scenes but I am noticing they are getting more frequent and more explicit. This in no way is a “cozy mystery” genre. It is almost porn. I wish the author would make up her mind what type of book she is writing. I am planning on listening to the 8 th book but not looking forward to these scenes. I guess her book would be a lot shorter without them. Maybe she has a page amount requirement. I think it is really sad. I follow many other authors who do not need to write this garbage in their books. If a woman walks around in “heat” like Violet all the time she needs therapy. Also she is not helping peoples options of blondes.

Story
Melanie West is getting her life back on track after a messy divorce when her grandmother, Liza Harris, asks her to join her in opening a bed-and-breakfast inn. Together, Liza and Melanie purchase a purportedly haunted mansion on the Oregon coast and jump right into clearing out the cobwebs. But while attempting to remove wallpaper in an upstairs bedroom, the new B&B owners stumble upon a very real skeleton in their closet.

Could be better without some of the filler
Reviewed: 10-04-21
Overall a nice story but seemed like writer was just trying to fill pages at times. The whole thing about encountering the ex-husband made the story tedious and did not add anything to it. It really had nothing to do with story and Melanie was already anxious about everything else. Also the story about Liza and Melanie starting a bed and breakfast needed to be more accurately written. The author went on and on about everything that needed fixed within a month and them not having enough time and money to do everything. The place needed the roof repaired and the heating ? How would they have even gotten a license or certificate of occupancy to operate? The story said they were planning on paying for it with monies from guests. It would likely need done before opening. Then the woe about money problems but they went out to eat a lot and bought clothes on a credit card.that Melanie didn’t really need if money was so tight. Could have made it more believable.

Story
Forty-something Defiance Dayne only recently discovered she comes from a long line of powerful witches. Added to that was the teensy, infinitesimal fact that she is what's called a charmling. One of three on the entire planet. And there are other witches who will stop at nothing to steal her immense power, which would basically involve her unfortunate and untimely death.

Good story with some twists. Narrator does great job. Only caution if you listen when children around as some of the descriptions of sexual encounters are pretty detailed, could get embarrassing or lead to discussions you may not be ready to have. I am ready for the next book in the series

Story
Science fiction allows us to go places we can only dream of seeing - other worlds, distant stars, entirely different galaxies. While not every story is concerned with the hard science behind space travel and other futuristic ventures, fiction can give us amazing insight into what we could be capable of and what we dream of doing. In these 10 lectures, Professor Erin Macdonald interweaves real science and the achievements of the imagination to reveal the truth that underlies our favorite stories and sheds light on what the future may hold.

Story
Buddhist monk Wayan Bagus lost his island of solitude and wants to get it back. The island was about 200 miles northeast of Samoa. It had a mountain, beaches, a rainforest, and a volcano. And now it's gone. Poof! Vanished without a trace. Brilliant and boyishly charming Emerson Knight likes nothing better than solving an unsolvable, improbable mystery. And finding a missing island is better than Christmas morning in the Knight household.

I noticed someone mentioned they did not care for this book because the narrator was the same person as the Stephanie Plum series and some of the voices she used sounded like those characters. I felt the story was strong enough to get passed that and picture the new characters in this series i think you should give this book a chance and decide for yourself. I would also hope the author would add additional books to this series.
