Way too much smutiness. Should have known do to the word [concubine] in the description. This book is not categorized as "romance" or "erotic",

Some of you may like listening to an android having sex sith her tranport system, then lewd conversations with her hotel.

Not for me.

Semi spoiler :: Just got to the plot twist, culminating action - pretty darn good. Five chapters to go? Ok, I am at the top of the roller coaster.

J. D. Ledford does it again. Very well matched narrator to book. the book is a bit corny - just how much can a burrito do as a supporting actor in a book? The antoganist is over the top as read by J. D. Ledford, and that was EXACTLY what I wanted.

Bought because the idea sounded really funny, and it is, and J. D. Ledford does a great job w/ the book.

First - we some to audible often times hoping for a great narrator match to story, characters, environment. This match up delivers. Jon Grilz captures the essance of Gas Station Jack.
Second - The book delivers well on myst points of the summary (the racoons were a little light), so you are getting what you think you are getting. Entertaining but light on the horror side (which is great, I don't think I'd like this if it went any deeper in that space than it did).

TTFN,
happy reader

One of the nice things about the Starship Grifters books is this side character that shows up now and then, Pepper Melange . This novella completes her origin story, how she started in a life of crime.

The Starship Grifters is one of the absolute best-est Narrator to Book to Main characters out there in SF on Audible. We need more J. D. Ledford.

When you read the description you are lead to think a suspicious murder will happen and that’s the lynch pin. Nope, not so at all. Quite predictable.

Yep - the cast was great. Liked them all. Decent tension in here, sufficient moral ambiguity to deal with.

First - these days, I really detest "four letter words". They REALLY take away from a book, and mean that you can't listen to them in the car w/ kids, or anyone else who is 4LW opposed (I generally am, tolerate them).

Sherman Holmes - pretty darn funny character, in is grandious behaviors. His ever-composed assistant Watson steals the show, though, as the narrator. Listening to them engage in all that the Ref-fare has to offer is really great.

Really don't know how this ended up in my library, but here we are. 2.5 hrs in. Audio has turned me around to "virtual voice". I was vehemently opposed to it. but its not bad. Not as great as, say Ray Porter or Scott Brick, but not bad.

Story - over the top, requires significant suspension of disbelief. But hey - tis "Speculative Fiction", so that's par for the course. Many of the written word issues do not come through in audio form (there are complaints about that online).

The MC adapts to her role as Lord of Darkness well enough. Will update once I am done.
