I don't write many reviews here, but in nearly twenty years of being a member, this might be my favorite performance by a writer/narrator. As for many others, Tom Baker is -my- Doctor, and a huge part of my childhood. I'd known about this script for a long time, and the movie that Tom tried to have made of it, and it was a genuine pleasure to see that it had been turned into a novel and audiobook.

I was not prepared for the sheer delight of listening to Tom Baker BE the Doctor again, adding nuance, "subtlety," and a genuine feeling of the very best of the show.

Tom is an excellent writer, too. I now wish that he'd been writing Doctor Who novels all this time. Some spooky scenes, genuinely lovely turns of phrase, and a real sense of gothic horror at the start, with a much more epic scope as the story progresses.

I loved the updates for the modern era of Doctor Who, and some genuinely delightful guest appearances by other characters was most welcome, including the (already spoiled here) Thirteenth Doctor.

A must-purchase for any Doctor Who fan, and especially for the old guard.

Andre Mitchell flawlessly paints a picture describing the inevitability of growing up fat when your first connections with food are those of reward, comfort, and love. Food was her first babysitter and the only constant in a tumultuous childhood. She tells her story from one extreme to the other, from mindless binge eating to quell the fires of emotion within herself to extreme restriction and compulsion. As someone who also fluctuates between these two extremes I connected with her like she was telling my own story. This story gives me hope that I won't lose myself if I lose the weight and that moderation and balance are indeed possible outcomes. A treasure I will read again and again as I work through my own fears and unpack my feelings about food. Thank you Andie!

The information in this book is important. People should read it.

But Dallas' breathing during his chapters is very distracting and irritating. If you are sensitive to that, be aware.

If you could sum up The Age of Radiance in three words, what would they be?

A well-written and well-read history of atomic research, from the discovery of radioactivity to the aftermath of the cold war.

Any additional comments?

The narrator read M.I.5 (the British Intelligence Agency) as "em one five" which is inaccurate and was slightly annoying.

I wasn't quite sure about getting this one, but the reviews looked so good and it had been a while since I read/listened to a Vietnam War novel or biography.

I didn't regret it. At turns inspiring, funny and tragic, Bronson Pinchot does an excellent job bringing life to a wide range of characters. I'll be looking into more of his narrations.

This has turned out to be one of my favorite King novels, probably in part because of John Slattery's excellent narration. His "Wireman" was especially well done.

It's a strange tale, with some heart-breaking moments, the kind that you hope won't happen when you listen THIS time... but it always does.

I've just finished my second listen to the book, and it's as good as it was the first time.

Highly recommended.

I've enjoyed the book so far, the narrator has a good voice, and sounds natural dealing with a difficult subject. Mind you, the book is well written, and not hard to follow anyway. Not a good book for background listening, as I often miss sections if I'm concentrating on something else even a little bit, but I'm learning things I didn't know before, and I finally understand some aspects of quantum physics I didn't get before, just through the fantastic and clear explanations here. Good stuff.
