Really fun easy listening, yes it’s superficial but if you liked The Devil Wears Prada you will like this. I didn’t realise it was connected with that do it was a nice surprise.

Not my usual type of pick but it is truly wonderful. It has no right being so enjoyable: the protagonist is despicable and the whole book is about smell.
I couldn’t stop listening.

I was almost put off by some of the reviews but this grabbed me the same way that the Koli books did. Beautifully read and written, and a nice substantial length too, even though I zipped through it in 3 days.
Highly recommended.

Narrator was top notch, the story was gripping and, in a couple of places, almost unbearably tense.
Will look fir more by this author - I listened to it in two sittings.

Story
The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

I really enjoyed this! It was included in Audible Plus (which is the best thing Audible have done in ages, btw) so I took a chance on something I might not have spent a credit on.
One gets a fairly clear idea of what’s going on early on, but it grabbed my attention while I was grooming dogs and before I knew it I was half way through - always a good sign.
It’s an easy, entertaining listen. The narrator also did a fantastic job.

This is my favourite BL book so far... listened to it in a couple of sittings.
Animals fare better in this one (kind of) than the others I’ve read.
It may not break new ground, but it’s an entertaining horror tale that moves along at a good pace.
I liked it.

Beautifully narrated version of a troubling classic

It should be pointed out that there are a lot of racial slurs and language that these days is hard to hear... at least for me.
Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, often uncomfortable. I would like to think that we take better care of those with mental illness these days, but that might be just wishful thinking.
Please have John C. Reilly narrate more books! Lock him in the studio if necessary and push sandwiches under the door! 😂😂.
Seriously though... he did a wonderful job.

In the small town of Montgomery, Arizona, Kyle Decker's book shop is barely breaking even. When a bank opens in the empty storefront next door, he hopes the new establishment will bring in more foot traffic. Trouble is, nobody has ever heard of the First People's Bank, and the local branch has appeared mysteriously overnight. Their incentives for new customers seem reasonable...at first. But is it a coincidence when Kyle's wife has her identity stolen and his son receives emails that seem to know his private thoughts? Or when the manager of a competing bank dies a gruesome death?

I wish he would knock off the animal cruelty...
Reviewed: 06-01-20
This is the second BL book with parts I have had to skip past animal mutilation and cruelty (the first being The Resort) and I have only listened to two!
The narrator is fantastic and I enjoyed the theme, despite massive similarities to Needful Things.
He is a creepy writer but I personally don’t care for the gratuitous torture of critters so I knocked off a star. It actually makes reluctant to try any of his other books.
