I started this book on my Kindle and did not get very far. That is not against the book so much as the fact I have two toddlers who see the Kindle and the lunge for it. Most of my reading is listening now and this audio book came out later than the kindle version. My only complaint is that I hope we do not have to wait as long for book 2 in the series to be available on audible! Or maybe I am going to have to lock myself in a room to read it because I loved this book!

Aven and Miara were likeable and believable as characters as was their romance. But what I really loved was the fresh way Thorne had them overcome the obstacles in their way. I dont want to write out any spoilers, but if you like romantic fantasy you are doing a serious disservice to yourself by not reading this!

This book, although it is just a little over 2 hours long, took me much longer to get through. Not because it was bad or boring but in fact just the opposite. It was so dense with information that I kept pausing it to make notes or follow through on the recommendations La Ronn makes. I have only recently found La Ronn though his Author Level Up youtube station (which in turn I found through a creative penn podcast) and I will now be buying his yearly state of the union as soon as it comes out each year.

My only complaint is that I would have liked to have the narration done by La Ronn himself. It is very rare that I think an author should self-narrate (I still stand by only Neil Gaiman should do it for fiction, and for non-fiction it is highly dependent) but in this case, having heard La Ronn speak on podcasts and on youtube, I think he would have been more than up for the task. As it was the narrator was fine and does not take away from the book. I just think La Ronn would have done a better job. In fact, there were certain things Dalton Lynne said where I thought "that is not how La Ronn would have said that sentence."

I highly recommend this book to any author, but especially those who are self-publishing or thinking about going that route. You will be quickly brought up to speed on the latest developments and have the information to move forward with your writing career.

Moments That Did Not Add Up To Greatness

This novel could potentially have worked if this had been book four and not book three. I did laugh out loud a couple of times. I really really really wanted to love this book. I was even willing to look past the horrific aspect of a book without Mark. In the end I just could not. Too much was glossed over between book 2 and book 3 and I felt this book was struggling to give us the old magic while at the same time struggling to recreate the magic with new love interests.

Bond was also a poor choice for Bridget. She would have been fine if Bridget had been in her 80"s rather than 50"s. I gave her three stars as she was a decent narrator, just way older sounding. (Except for the voices she used for the children, which made me wince each and every time).

I am glad I read it, even if it was to experience the disappointment first hand.

Great Fun & A Fantastic Adventure

I loved this book! As I"m thinking about taking up sailing I decided to do a search for good books on sailing. What I loved about the description on this book was that unlike all the others Torre was not keen on the idea at all. As someone who is also being told by her partner how great sailing is I was ecstatic to find a book written by someone who was coming at the whole adventure from my viewpoint: sailing is scary and so is the ocean!

The book is laugh out loud funny while at the same time giving an honest account of both the highs and lows of travel, sailing and doing so with your partner.

I can only highly recommend this book for anyone interested in sailing or long term adventure with your partner! (Be that of the armchair or actual variety!)

If You Enjoy YA Fiction You Will Enjoy This

I really enjoyed this book. There were times when I cringed at some of the word choices (like she was vulnerable and invincible at the same time), but the plot hooked me and it was a fun book overall. It is young adult fiction, Lu does not go into details sometimes, but neither should she. She was not writing for an adult audience. The book may not change your world, but it will make for an entertaining 8 hours or so.

I was disappointed by the narration though. Most of the time I found Stern and Kaplan to be fine for Day and June. Although there were a couple of points where the only thing they did to bring across emotion was to speak louder - completely flat, but loud. But their portrayal of some of the adult characters made me glad that the book is mostly done in June and Day"s voices.

I liked it enough to want to read (or even listen) to the next book in the series, although it will not be entering my fav books of all time list (YA or otherwise).

The book is great fun, so much so that I did not give up early thanks to the narrator"s characterization of Bee. I had heard so many great things that I did not preview the sample and just bought it. The narrator does a great job giving each character a distinct voice, but every time Bee came on I wanted to scream. And Bee comes on a lot. However like others, I was blown away by Wilhoite"s singing, My recommendation is try the sample. Bee"s voice is always high pitched and annoying, not just when she is dancing around because she is getting what she wants for graduation. If you can handle it I do not think you will be disappointed in the audio version of the book. If you are then buy this one to read. Because it is a great story worth discovering.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Both the author and the writer seemed to be truly passionate about the topic of parasites and I loved that style. That is the reason I gave them 5 stars overall despite agreeing with one reviewer who stated that it would appear the professor was stuck in the 50"s. There were a couple of comments that walked the sexist line, but it was not blatant enough to turn me off from the book.

The book is for anyone who has ever traveled and wondered what you could have picked up. I don"t recommend it for anyone who finds themselves with the symptoms they read about.

In the end this book is not going to help you pass any Biology exams, but if you"re looking for a quirky entertaining and still educating read, try this one!

I thought this book was great, I was a little apprehensive as it is the first book in the series that I have listened to (or read) and I was not sure if I was going to jump into the middle of a story. But you do not need to have read the previous books to enjoy this one. Any details you need are quickly filled in, and the story is stand alone for the most part. Anyone who has an interest in the 47 Ronin will enjoy this book. I found the narrator to be mostly excellent, although there were one or two voices I cringed at. Otherwise I would have given her 5 instead of 4 stars.

It Took Awhile To Get Going

I ended up loving this book, but if it was not for the glowing reviews I am not overly sure I would have made it past the first 2 - 3 hours. After they were over I was sucked into the story, and I listened in 3 days to 15 hours. It took me a week to get through the first 3 hours and I almost gave up. It is true there is a lot of background story, and at times it does wander, but once the story gets to the university the backstory is great and you understand the character. The problem is that it takes so long to get there that many may give up too soon.

I loved this book. The writing, the pacing and the narrators were as close to perfect as humanly possible. I did not want to stop listening, I devoured it in about 3 days. This is one book worth the hype!
