Another book I've loved forever. It's a bit dated, but not in ways that count. It explores how we take in something new and how at some times we simply can't. Great read.

Story
Women rule in Women's Country. Women live apart from men, sheltering the remains of civilization. They have cut themselves off with walls and by ordinance from marauding males. Waging war is all men are good for. Men are allowed to fight their barbaric battles among themselves, garrison against garrison. For the sake of his pride, each boy child ritualistically rejects his mother when he comes of age to be a warrior. But all the secrets of civilization are strictly the possession of women.

This is a story about deception and sensibility. And making your world work. I've always loved it, and was delighted to find it on audible. I'd love to see this as a classroom book for literature. It's a great turn around.

Xander Corey lives simply, sustainably, on the outskirts of Osprey, a small, quaint town in Upstate New York. And while that’s of no concern to anyone around him, there are others, non-humans, who have a vested interest in Xander’s family land. Xander knows something dark and dangerous is brewing. He’s just not quite sure what.

This started out so well. There's a neat male modern-day witch accepted by his world. Then they add the love interest and it's endless bed time. 'With almost no plot. I found it unreadable after a certain point. Not a prude, but this was not to my taste

I can’t say if it’s the writing or the delivery of this book. It’s got the depth of a postcard. It reads like it’s for an eight year old. Neat subject. Very disappointed.

Dark-haired and enigmatic, they live quietly in the hills and valleys of Cloud County, their origins lost to history. But there are clues in their music, hidden in the songs they have passed down for generations.

This starts slow and it's not what I expected. Delightful end to the thing. I'm tired of fairy books, and I'm not a mountain fan but this has both in it in a way that completely surprised me. Highly recommended.

Holly Ash is good actor. Just one downside: Most of the people she’s acting with have no idea they’re a part of her fiction. One that has been carefully constructed by the secretive company that Holly works for, known as D.O.P.L. Every assignment is a new role, a new name, a completely new self. Her newest role is “Margot” and her newest target: a boy her age named Will Aldrich.

This is a collection of history told as medical conditions or as medical conditions explaining history. You could describe it either way. But it's an entertaining read and a good look at what it would be like to be a medical diagnostician. A very nice read.

Among other things, the book explores how dinosaur remains are found and excavated, and especially how paleontologists read the details of dinosaurs' lives from their fossils - their colors, their growth, and even whether we will ever be able to bring them back to life.

To all appearances, Dan Chase is a harmless retiree in Vermont with two big mutts and a grown daughter he keeps in touch with by phone. But most 60-year-old widowers don't have multiple driver's licenses, savings stockpiled in banks across the country, and a bugout kit with two Beretta Nanos stashed in the spare bedroom closet. Most have not spent decades on the run.
