My favorite book of the whole series!
Reviewed: 07-08-24
Listened to the audio book and I just loved it. Michael is a great narrator for this series, and this is definitely my favorite of the series.
We met Colin earlier in the series, and I was so interested in getting his story. He's gray-ace, and a bit obsessed with a vampire's bite. And I loved his take charge bravado and attitude and how he just totally owned the vampire twins right from the start.
And the twins! Fox and Dane are so so much more complex and amazing than I ever thought they'd be from what we saw of them in Lucien's book. I love them. I love their infatuation with Colin and their total golden retriever vibe, but still dark b/c y'know - vampires LOL.
I loved seeing so many characters show up in this, I continue to adore Jay, and I absolutely love love love this series. I'm so sad to see it ending. I'm excited we're kinda staying in this world though, with a spin-off series. I have adored all these vampires and their mates. What an amazing series.

Wolfgang Volker is many things: vampire, psychopath, connoisseur of fine living. But impulsive? Never that. Until the day he sets foot in Hyde Park and catches a certain enticing scent on the wind. His mate is here, gorgeous and oblivious and undeniably human. And it doesn't take long for Wolfe to make the most impulsive move of his whole undead existence.

Excellent audiobook of an amazing series!

The audio of this is just excellent!! Michael, as always, knocks it out of the park with this one.
I highly recommend reading this series in order, as there is a lot of couples and characters overlapping and building in the overall series. This one especially features every couple in books 1-4 and I feel like you'd get the most enjoyment out of this one having read the other stories.
We first met Wolfe in Jay's book, the kinda crazy vampire who kidnapped his mate and turned him right away. Now we get to see what really went down, including some scenes from Jay's book now from Wolfe's POV. I absolutely loved this psychopath vampire. I loved just how different he was from all of the other Hyde Park vampires, and having Eric start out being turned was a delight and lovely change of pace from the previous books in the series. Wolfe just DGAF and that doesn't change after finding Eric and having to put up with this new den of vampires.
I love how gradual Eric and Wolfe fall for each other - how needy and slutty Eric is, and how well that works for his partnership with Wolfe. Wolfe loves it, encourages it even, just as long as Eric is needy for HIM. I loved how their bond just gradually sets into place and they come to mean so much to each other. Everything they do, it's on their terms, and it might be different than the other couples, but it works so well for them!
However, what totally stole the show for me were the chapters when Eric got introduced to all of the couples from the previous books. Jay's adorable wave hello, his cookies, Danny being sweet Danny as always. And the love/hate friendship with Lucien in the mix! Honestly, the dynamics between everyone is just hilarious and SO MUCH FUN to read about!

This series just continues to get better and better. Up to this book, book 3 was hands down my favorite in the whole series. But I don't know.....this might be tied with book 3 now as my top favorite.
Just get this alone for the rapping and the singing and the Titanic. IYKYK.
But seriously. I adore every one in this Hitman group. Leland is always gonna be Leland, but Cassel is my baby and I ADORE HIM. I also love Henry with his deep sighs while still enjoying every situation Leland throws him him. Seriously, this series is just my comfort HUG and I never want it to end.

Twilight of Embers is the first book in a new trilogy - and my first book I have read from this author!
Well, I LOVED it. I am immediately going and seeing what book I should read from her next while I wait for the next book in this series to come out.
Also! The audio is pretty great because it is a full cast! 5 different male narrators for her men, including two of my favorites. Definitely check this one out if you like audiobooks.
Hayden is our female MC and she's starting the next chapter of her life at college.I really loved her strength and determination. I thought she was well written, with attitude and sass and plenty of emotion.
We are also introduced to her group of men in this one - 5 very different men and dragon shifters!, all who are totally smitten (in varying ways and degrees in which they show that LOL) with Hayden. I really loved Knox, what a sweetie, and Cael is just possessive and soft, and then we have a couple who are more resistant to showing any affection for Hayden and I can't wait to learn more about them in the next book.
The danger comes from an opposing family of dragons, and those who might want to take Hayden for their own. I LOVE the possessiveness of her group of men, determined to save her.
I cannot wait to see what is next for this group and for Hayden to learn more about herself and family history.

The one Jamie has seen in his dreams for the past five years. Jamie doesn’t know much about the enigmatic man from his visions, but he doesn’t need to. He knows enough. He knows they belong together. Lucien Volaire has been losing his mind for almost half a century, the monster within him steadily taking greater control over his thoughts and actions.

Listening to the audio and I adore Jamie and Lucien. Michael is doing a great job with this series. I especially love Lucien's accent in this one.
Grae Bryan really can do no wrong for me, this series has just been the answer to all of my vampire romance needs and wants, and I will always be recommending this series to people!
I've been waiting for Lucien's story - I love a good villain story, and this was just perfect for him. He's not the good guy necessarily, but he deserves his own HEA. Lucien, more than any other vampire, has been desperately searching for his fated mate to save him from reaching that point of no return and loss of humanity.
Enter Jamie - bold, sweet, confident, and so totally perfectly for Lucien in every way. Jamie has known that Lucien would come into his life at some point, and he's been ready and waiting. I love the total unconditional love and acceptance that Jamie has for Lucien, having "known" him through the visions he receives. He is the perfect match for Lucien's monster and I just love them together.
Of course, we get a nice visit from Danny and Roman (Danny, my sweet boy!) And I love these bad ass vampires - that are totally wrapped around their mates' fingers.
I love that as this world continues to grow, we learn more about the vampires and their world through the new characters and new interactions. And now I have more people I'm interested in stories for. And I can't wait for more, more, more!

The issue is that mayhem always seems to find me (which is definitely not my fault), and this time, it comes in the form of a woman looking for her daughter.

I adore Leland and his brand of sass and insanity. I love Jackson and his unwavering adoration for his hubbie. And honestly, I kinda adore Cassel like a LOT. Henry is hilarious and you know he secretly loves all of this lol. So basically, I love everyone and I never want this series to end.
This one was hilarious - the singing and the gasps and the rapping and I just don't know how Michael can narrate this without cracking up every single time.

Being rescued by a hot lumberjack after catching his fiancé cheating was the only good thing to happen to Beau for quite some time. Getting stuck in the man’s cabin for the weekend? Kind, caring, and protective. Those are the three qualities I’m looking for when it comes to my dream man. In a city as big as Chicago, you wouldn’t think he would be that hard to find, right? Wrong. Sure, my boss found a super-sexy detective and my best friend fell madly in love with the most eligible bachelor around. But the only person I’ve met recently is a broody bad boy who saved me at a sketchy pub. He’s grumpy, rude, and honestly, not that likeable at all. Hardly my “dream” guy. So why can’t I stop thinking about him?

I'm so, so happy to return to Ella and her Chicago verse men!
I listened to this in audio just this week and I really enjoyed it! Charlie David was super enjoyable being the narrator for this one - his voice for Jameson was spot on. Cannot wait for part two of this b/c I need some more of the Grump and GQ!
This time we have Ryan - who is Alexander's PA, and Jameson, the newbie at the fire department that Kieran recently left, and I absolutely love how they came to meet and continued to meet from there.
If you're a fan of grumpy/sunshine, opposites, kinda a Lady and the Tramp vibe, with characters who have wonderful chemistry together, you should definitely read the newest book from Ella Frank!
