Story
I'm Leo Landry, one of the best shutdown cornerbacks in the nation, and the New York Mavericks' first round draft pick. If James Bond spent his days running drills and his nights shutting out quarterbacks, he'd dream about being me. But professional football is on a whole other level from college, and as the new guy, I've got everything to prove. No problem. All I've got to do is focus, right? Too bad life's got other plans.

Hilarious!
Reviewed: 06-23-24
I laughed so hard I cried listening to Lidia Dornet’s performance especially when talking about Dr Derek Shepard like he was a real person! And listening to it at 1.7 speed made it totally outrageous! It was awesome! I always like when the main characters especially the male are a little wholesome and not too much man-whore. Leo was a pretty nice guy and Gemma was okay but I think she was way overreacting to Leo’s surprise especially the second time. However, Leo should have at least asked or probed more about her life’s dream. Overall, it was a pleasant fix for my HEA obsession.

Story
Rule number one for having a one-night stand: Don’t fall for the girl. After a lengthy dating slump, I finally met someone who sparked my interest. Well, first the sparks flew when we argued. Later in the evening those sparks ignited into something more. I was drawn to Devyn, in a way I hadn’t felt in a really long time. Needless to say, I was disappointed when she abruptly left after our amazing night together. I couldn’t stop thinking about her. But she hadn’t even given me her number. In a city with eight-million people, I figured I’d never see Devyn again.

Great Story but female narrator was screechy!
Reviewed: 06-02-24
Vanessa Edwin’s voice always sounds incredibly fake and barely tolerable for her normal voice but when she tries to do another female it is excruciating. Especially her best friend Mia’s voice. Sebastian is so sexy and can’t do anything wrong though so makes it so worth it. And the story was outstanding so that made it easier to get through. I really enjoy when the MMC doesn’t get much temptation for cheating and Owen handles the almost situation like a gentleman even though Devyn had pushed him away and gave him no reason to stay “faithful”. Maybe it’s a trigger for me as I really rush through those kind of scenes. I enjoy the fairy tale phenomena of a guy who loves a girl but can’t have her so he stays faithful just because he is still in love.

Jules and Josh - Great Couple Match
Reviewed: 05-30-24
I really enjoyed how Jules and Josh fit together. And that it didn’t take forever for them to admit the serious connection they had. But . . . . though I liked how they were a little more outside the box and spicy in the bedroom, I was troubled about the humiliation displayed during the break-up. I finished this a few days ago and still haven't been able to let go of my emotional backlash from it. In my review of Alex and Ava’s story, I was disappointed in the writer dragging out the make-up time to over a year but I have to admit that Jules and Josh getting back together in only 12 days after the trauma/humiliation mentioned above was just as unbelievable. So because everything but that exception was well done I have rated very highly. I have to say these two narrators work very well together in this series.

Vanessa Mazur refuses to feel bad for quitting—she knows she’s doing the right thing. The thankless job of personal assistant to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans for her life, and none of them include washing extra-large underwear one more day for a man who could never find it in him to tell her good morning, congratulate her on a job well done, or wish her a happy birthday—even when she was spending it working for him.

Female narrator is hard to listen to
Reviewed: 05-25-24
I wish Emma Wilder wasn’t so nasal. And this character was written to be extra whiny (mostly in her thoughts) making it worse. I love Stephen Dexter’s voice and it was very nice this was done in dual narration but it was 100% in female’s POV so I would’ve liked to hear more of him. It was definitely too long and drawn out. I don’t like when two people are having a conversation and the POV person takes 5 minutes (1 minute is too long) to talk about background before the other person gets to answer. It’s hard to remember what was said by the time we get the reply or answer. However the story was good in the fact that it wasn’t your standard fake marriage trope. I loved the fact that Aiden was not a man-whore and very wholesome guy. Noted though he was so extremely rude and sometimes mean until Vanessa cracked into his heart. Again the MFC that whined all the time in her thoughts as POV she should have given him a piece of her mind especially knowing that she was going to quit. Same with her HORRIBLE family!!! She shouldn’t have let them walk all over her as well. But I love how it ended with one of the epilogues going some years into the future. I love me a good HEA.

HEA took way too long to get to
Reviewed: 05-23-24
And I agree female narrator almost ruined it for me. She didn’t convince me that she was really Ava. And her male voice sounded sexy trying to be Alex until I heard her do ALL the men the same way. Then it really annoyed me. I listened to Book 2 a few months ago with same narrators and for whatever reason I really enjoyed it, maybe the story was better. I understand that in real life things don’t happen over night and usually require time to get over a hurt situation but this was so unbelievable taking a year to get over what Alex did. And was also a little disappointed that Aiden Snow didn’t get to narrate very much at the
end . . . . . basically that whole year! Hesitating to listen to the rest of the series since there are the same narrators.

Story
The universe is conspiring against Ava Breevort. As if flying back to Phoenix to bury a childhood friend wasn't hell enough, a cloud of volcanic ash traveling from overseas delayed her flight back home to Boston. Her last ditch attempt to salvage the trip was thwarted by an arrogant Scotsman, Caleb Scott, who steals a first class seat out from under her. Then over the course of their journey home, their antagonism somehow lands them in bed for the steamiest layover Ava's ever had. And that's all it was - until Caleb shows up on her doorstep.

Angelica Lee portrayed Caleb in such a realistic light that I couldn’t stop listening until the “wee” hours of the morning. Caleb’s character was certainly written to be rude and sometimes mean but I was able enjoy the harshness with the Scottish accent well done. I also noticed the way Caleb said Ava’s last name Breehort sounded slightly like he was saying “Braveheart” which I thought was cute considering Braveheart was a Scottish warrior. As all the United Kingdom accents, many vowels are spoken much different than American dialects. I know some thought Caleb needed to grovel more at the end but I really saw how he was turning quite early on probably mostly due to the excellent narration showing deeper meanings. That tells me that the producer and others behind the scene did an outstanding job as well. They often don’t get the recognition they deserve. Great listen!

My new neighbor is a firefighter - and a scorching-hot single dad - but I swear I didn’t set off that smoke alarm on purpose. (And I was beyond mortified when he rushed in and saw me naked.) Nothing happened, of course - because I, Winnie MacAllister, romance junkie and owner of a constantly broken heart, have sworn off men for one solid year. Even protective men with chiseled jaws, bulging biceps, and deep brown eyes that make my breath come faster.

Not Tempted to skip ahead!
Reviewed: 04-25-24
First book in a long time that I haven’t skipped ahead. Story kept me interested enough to keep me from skipping chapters. Loved the commitment Dex had to his daughters but was a little annoyed that he took so long to let Winnie into his heart and was a bit mean about it. But was surprised that when he did it was still very realistic. I figured that author Melanie Harlow would take the easy way out and have him instantly change his mind. Well done! I also appreciated she didn’t include any fake encounters with strange women falling all over him. I mean how real is it when strange women go up to a handsome man and start touching him uncontrollably. Which this story did NOT have, thank you very much!

And forgetting is exactly what she wants to do when she learns he’s not just a successful Wall Street suit but the heir to one of New York’s biggest Mafia families. Reviewed: 03-20-24
Interesting dynamic between the two main characters and enjoyed that there was an instant connection but still took time to grow in strength. But didn’t appreciate some of the drawn out portions and wanted to see more romance. I wished they had connected more sexually (constraint is nice in the beginning but these guys took forever even after their initial experience). I really liked this overall but was a little disappointed that there wasn’t a more HEA epilogue and the little cliffhanger. The next book doesn’t look like it will pick it up where Trace and Jess go from there. Ashton was totally unlikeable never redeemed himself like I would’ve expected. So not interested in reading the next book in the series. However I loved both narrators especially Joe as expected. Would have loved hearing more of him though as it seemed there was more Cj than Joe.

I first met Tristan Miles at a meeting where he was trying to take over my late husband’s company. He was powerful, arrogant, and infuriatingly gorgeous, and I hated him with every cell in my body. In the shock of the century, he called me three days later and asked me on a date. I would rather die than date a man like him - though I do have to admit it was good for the ego. Turning him down was the highlight of my year.

First time I’ve ever had a difficult time finding something I didn’t like about a book. Liked Book 1 but Book 2 surpassed it by far. I also avoid listens that are over 8 hrs because they usually drag on but this did not! Laughed so hard I cried mostly over the boys and Tristan characters. Just lovely story about serious trauma and yes Claire’s serious and very difficult time getting over it but enjoyed that it had several different paths to overcome. Really appreciated that the story wasn’t about being tempted or tricked into cheating situations and that the MMC was so in love that I knew he wouldn’t even have thought twice about it if it had been in the story.

He has the muscles of Adonis, an ego bigger than the sun, and a very clear desire to get back in my pants. Which would be fantastic if he weren't a SEAL and I wasn't a criminal. Although, I prefer the term avenger. I'm a hacktivist, cleaning up the cesspool of cyberspace one scam artist and troll at a time, and I sometimes bend a few rules to get justice done. He's a military man with abs of glory, sworn to uphold the letter of the law no matter its shortcomings. And if he'd known who - or what - I was, I doubt he would've banged me at my best friend's wedding reception.

I loved this performance, Teddy never disappoints but totally surprised with Maxine Mitchell. I usually won’t read it if she’s narrating but decided to give it a chance with Teddy always doing so good. I think her voice style finally found a perfect match in Eloise. I laughed so many times that I cried and one time it caught me so off guard that I snorted water that I was drinking! I loved the personalities of Rhett and Eloise especially that they were trying so hard to hide who they really were. Found it kind of refreshing that the Navy Seal played hard to get in order to break Eloise down. I also enjoyed that there wasn’t any real or mistaken cheating involved.
