Story
No one predicted the dragon apocalypse. The dragons came suddenly and decimated the world as we knew it, including New York City. Now, three years later, Noah, his hardcore survivalist father, and a ragtag group of survivors are barely scraping by in this new reality. Kids scavenge not only for materials in abandoned homes but also for leftover books at the library. Adults spend their time establishing a make-shift society and defending their shelter… with any means available. At least for the few months the dragons are hibernating, until it’s no longer safe aboveground.

Great story!
Reviewed: 12-12-24
I don’t read a lot of middle grade stuff (I’m over 65 with no kids) so I don’t have much to compare this to. Having said that I know that this story is one that I would have loved when I was young. It was engaging to the point I didn’t want to stop listening to it once I started. Both of the voice actors did a great job. I don’t know if there are more books in this series but I can envision Noah and Asha having more adventures together.

Kind of dark but I enjoyed listening to it.
Reviewed: 12-11-24
This story is a bit dark and not exactly a romance but I loved listening to it. Nick Johnson did a great job performing it. This is only the third book I’ve read by JM Snyder. Even though I have a bunch of her books in my digital library I didn’t get around to reading any of them until I was offered a review copy of the audiobook of Waylaid, also performed by Nick Johnson, and I quicky became a fan of this author/performer combination.
While stories like Scarred aren’t my normal go-to books, I’m learning to branch out and stretch myself by reading things that I wouldn’t usually pick up. Scarred held my attention throughout and I even made it through the darker/bloodier portions without having to take a break. 😊
I can recommend this audiobook to anyone who likes darker stories set in a post-apocalyptic-type world.

John’s performance was perfect. The voices he chose for the different characters made it easy to know who was speaking. I’m ready to move on to the next book in this series!

This story has a lot of family drama but I loved how Sasha Summers wove several different story lines into one great book. The main couple gets their HEA but now I want to find out how the sister’s romance turns out. I don’t consider that this story has a cliffhanger but the epilogue set the hook for the next book and I hope to read it soon.
Edit: I just found out that there is not another book coming in this series and that makes me a little sad..

The story was interesting and held my attention. I liked that Ryze was paired with a human and I loved how Emori was able to handle herself when challenged. I'm ready to get the next book when it becomes available.

Shattered Blood is not my normal type of book to read but the author will be attending Coastal Magic Convention in Daytona Beach in February 2025 so I wanted to try one of his books. I’ll admit that this started out pretty slow for me but boy when it picked up it didn’t let go.
I was on the edge of my seat for about the last half of this story as Haddie and her father fought against the bad guys and tried to keep themselves from getting into trouble. This book is the origin story for the AngelSong series and ends a bit abruptly but not really what I would call a cliffhanger. I’m intrigued enough by this story that I wouldn’t mind reading more.
I listened to the audiobook performed by Christine Mascott. AFAIK I haven’t listened to any other ones that she’s done (narrators often have multiple names just like authors) and I think she did a great job with this story. She did very good male voices – not all female narrators can – and I was able to distinguish all of the characters. I would definitely listen to more audiobooks performed by her.

Story
Fleeing her own nuptials wasn’t part of wedding planner Sangeeta Parikh’s design for her life. Neither was stumbling into chef Sonny Pandya’s arms, nor the video that went viral. Now they’re an internet sensation! So why not fake the relationship with no commitment? Sangeeta can save face and her job, and Sonny gets needed exposure for his restaurant. It’s a good plan for two commitmentphobes … until all that pretend hand-holding and kissing starts to feel real.

I enjoyed listening to No Rings Attached. The story was fun and flirty and romantic. Sangeeta’s a runaway bride who ran right into the arms of a guy she spent time with while taking a break from her fiancé so she could figure things out. She went back with her fiancé but considering she ran away from their wedding before the vows took place, she apparently made the wrong choice to return to him.
I enjoyed all of the family interaction in this story, including all of the bickering. 😊 I’m also glad that I listened to this book because I love learning how to pronounce words that are foreign to me so reading this book with my ears was the right choice. The narrator was new to me and I think she did an OK job. I had trouble distinguishing the various characters at times because she didn’t do a great job of using different voices. It didn’t prevent me from enjoying the story but I thought it was worth mentioning.
While this is the third book in the Once Upon a Wedding series, it works fine as a standalone. I’m disappointed that not all of the books are available in audio format. It seems a bit strange that the second book isn’t but I know that’s a publisher decision, not the authors.

Someone once said, when life gets you down and you’re feeling blue, brush yourself off and go to Paris! Okay, maybe that was me. Hey, I don’t regret taking an oddball assignment to assist a British professor abroad. I could use a break from my life as an aspiring hair and style guru in LA. The only worrisome snag is that the professor is determined to do everything on his own. Not acceptable. I’m here to help the impossibly smart geek with mismatched socks who just happens to be my best friend’s boss.

When I read this book with my eyes last month, I said the only thing that would make me love it any more would be listening to the audiobook performed by Joel Leslie. I was right! Joel’s performance made a wonderful story even better. 💖 My original review is shown below.
I loved everything about this story. Winnie is a fun and flirty character – completely opposite to Alistair – but they are perfect for each other. There were LOL moments, where it was a good thing I wasn’t eating or drinking anything at the time, and there were many tender moments, too. It was kind of a slow burn story as well because the sexy time didn’t start until about 40% into the story (I love a good slow-burn romance). But once things heated up between Winnie and Alistair, OMG, they were HOT 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 together. I enjoyed all of the descriptions of Paris; they kind of made me feel like I was right there with Alistair and Winnie. It’s unlikely that I’ll ever make it there so seeing it through their eyes was a treat.
The only thing that will make me love this story any more is listening to the fantastic Joel Leslie perform the audiobook which I understand is coming soon.

Zelda Hawkins came to Manhattan to make sandwiches, not spells—but when a mysterious vampire offers free rent on her family’s old restaurant in exchange for repairing a magical mirror, Zelda’s plans are flipped like a hot grilled cheese. With the help of a ridiculous rescue poodle, a mind-reading fire witch, a smoldering ex-boyfriend, and a hot Brooklyn hipster helping with the renovation, Zelda must use the magic she inherited from her grandmother to enter a world of witches, vampires, and fae, where masks and mirrors are only the beginning… and the stakes are higher than New York prices.

This isn’t my usual kind of book to listen to but I listened to it for a reading challenge and I’m not sorry that I did. The characters were interesting and the story engaging. Hollie Jackson did a great job performing this story. Her voices for the different characters were easy to distinguish and her vocal inflections were on point. One of my favorite characters was Jester, Zelda’s rescue Poodle. Rescue dogs are the best and so are Poodles. (I might be a bit biased because I had a wonderful rescue Poodle of my own for 16 years. 🥰)
