A different adaptation of this classic. Still tragic that the mermaid gave up so much for a man who didn’t truly love her.

Interesting plot. I wonder if it would’ve been better if it were a longer book wherein it delved more into each character.

Leslie F*cking Jones is amazing! After listening to this, I feel like I know her better and it makes me love her even more. This is a memoir that HAS to be listened to because her reading it made it THAT much better.

A great science fiction, dystopian story about how good intentions can be used for evil. Loved the story, but would’ve liked to know more of what happened after Sam broadcast her story. Was Telos exposed for all to know? What happened to Sam’s cell; were they captured and killed or did they live on to see their vision through? What happened to Lucy and Algebra? I have questions that need answers! lol

I enjoyed the African lore presented. The story was good and the character development was gradual and enjoyable. My only complaint was that the action sequence at the end involving Black Hat Otokoto and Ekwensu was short. With the build up of how bad Otokoto was and his horrible actions throughout, I expected the fight sequence to be stronger and longer.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next in the sequence.

A good plot with so much potential that failed to deliver. I’m no stranger to books told from multiple perspectives, but this seemed disjointed; there was so much opportunity to make the two perspectives be more cohesive, but it never happened. The ending left me with more questions than answers and it just seemed lazy and sloppy.

The return on the investment I put into this book was disappointing and I don’t plan on reading anymore of this author’s works.
