Story
Jack Jupiter knows zombies. He's written about them for years. So when Jack's mother passes away in a freak car accident involving a half-eaten deer and a pack of cigarettes, he also knows something's up. Now, Jack and his fiancé, Darlene, are forced to go back to the dreadful town of Woodhaven, Ohio, for his mom's funeral. But what he doesn't know is it might be their funeral, too. A few months before Jack and Darlene's arrival, a mysterious flu-like virus swept through the town, infecting nearly every citizen.

The story may be ok, but I can’t finish it

The narrator is so monotone I had to look and verify it was a person and not the AI thing. I went through chapter 10. I realize I am spoiled by certain narrators, but this book may be better off just read by AI. It is that bad.
Other than that, if you like a nerdy, annoying author for the main character in a run of the mill zombie story and you are NOT a narrator snob like some of us are. I’m sure this book is fine. This is probably a fine read. (If you run out of all Mark Tufo’s Zombie Fallout books then his other series and all of the other authors we happily list on his fan group page. Ha ha ha.. )

Normalcy ceased to exist in the United States the instant the Iranian EMP warheads detonated, relieving America of its abundant luxuries and conveniences. The event pushed the entire country backward in a millisecond. Backward in time to the mid-1800s—to a lifestyle that preceded the telephone and, for most, even the use of a simple lightbulb.

Character development is great! Storytelling is great. Great action. Loved it.
A bit heavy handed on the immigrants being the rapist murders. When they are the ones coming to America to just to feed their families because their countries are run by dictators and drug cartels. I will never argue their aren’t criminals among the immigrants, just like their are soldiers, police, doctors, emts, authors, politicians, mothers, fathers, teachers, readers, etc, etc, etc.
But there’s also Americans, English, French, African, German, and every other country. Do you , I , we realize Americans go to other countries and commit crimes. We immigrate to other countries to get out of our poor school system, and no insurance

The Source, the natural wellspring of Magic in the world, is stretched to the breaking point. This is a great start to a new series. I’m already drawn in by the characters, some of the early ones I thought would be a part of the story, but they were just to kill off quickly (shaking my fist) damn you Simpson! I generally don’t enjoy a lot of background and details, I’m more of a story girl. Just get on with it, you know. We get it, we get it. There’s lots of detailed scientific stuff, electronic stuff, magic stuff, alien stuff whatever. But this book isn’t so overwhelming detailed and stuffed with science that I have to skip 15 minutes. I didn’t have to skip anything. It was all understandable, palatable and enjoyable. The landscape building was great too. He didn’t waste too much time on what we already know. We got great descriptive information so we can see it in our minds eye without crossing our eyes in boredom.
I can’t wait for book 2 on Audible and as always Eric Shelman, You are the Man!!!!” Great job!!!

What is a zombie books without lots of blood guts, poop, oh and let's throw in cannibalism for shits and giggles, because that is what this series is all about! (shit and giggles, get it? Javan, don't worry I won't be stealing your thunder any time soon.)
The perfect narraration makes the spectrum of emotions come alive in this book. If you happen to start with this book, don't hesitate to get the two omnibus that will get you 1 - 8. you won't regret it. They will keep you laughing out loud.

Jonathan Mayberry is one of my favorite authors and this book definitely shows why. The world and characters are well developed, and noone is perfect or perfectly evil, except maybe the king who would become a god and open the gates of the underworld.
I love how he makes you think. Use your reason and logic instead of just, "this is what I was taught." Yes, try thinking for yourself.
This may be my favorite Ray Porter narrative yet.

My dog once took a bullet that was intended for me. A bullet that ripped through his chest, narrowly missing his heart, and exited through his shoulder blade. This left him unconscious on the floor of my home. Amazingly, this bullet did not kill him. Ten years ago, I adopted Blue after I broke up with my boyfriend one hot, early summer night with the windows open and the neighborhood listening. The next morning I went straight to the pound in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Articles on buying your first dog tell you never to buy a dog on impulse.

These books were made very enjoyable by Sonja Field's great performance. she has the ability to create different characters, even males, and accents, so that you can actually tell people apart by her voice. She can more create drama and emotion the author alone would, I believe.
I like the books themselves. I like the author's beliefs. And being a preacher's daughter myself who happens to have a gay daughter and several gay friends, these books just fall right into my wheelhouse!

Jordan helps kids on the run find their way back home. He's good at that. He should be - he's a runaway himself. Sometimes he helps the kids in other stranger ways. He looks like a regular teenager, but he's not. He acts like he's not exactly human, but he is. He treads the line between mundane reality and the world of the supernatural. Desdaemona also knows the nonhuman world far too well.

His hands knew how to fight. His fingers knew the ways of war. Gunny, Griz, and the crew have one more mission south of the border, the Traveler is looking to right some wrongs, and Jessie is trapped in a faraway place. The undead hordes are as vicious as ever, and a simple rescue mission gets real complicated real quick. This is the final two-fisted, gas-guzzling, gear-grinding thrill ride of the Zombie Road saga. More tales to come, but this concludes the story that started with the Convoy of Carnage.

What can you say about a legend!
Reviewed: 07-08-21
This journey started with all of us laughing our asses off, at "some asshole is licking my peep hole." Then we all got the t-shirt. We've joined the fan club of Mark Tufo, honestly the most awesome author ever. So, awesome, in fact, we over look so much, so many of his eccentricities, his lack of taste in sports teams, in food, and he's not JUST a yankee, no my friend, this author above all others, this legend, this king of literary magic is a Mainer. Shocking. I know but it's true. But we love our crayon eating, down to earth author who also heroically carries the badge of honor as Marine.
Mark introduced us to a whole world of people and monsters. There were villains and heros. The villains weren't always just the monsters because people can be much worse. Mark made us love a family and a group of people. We laughed, loved, sighed, sat on the edge of our seats, yelled advice, (or was that just me) and cried.
Mark ran our minds and our hearts through the gauntlet to make it to this 16th and final installment of Zombie Fallout. I found it very satisfying. It ended as we knew it had to end. Well, those of us that have gobbled up every other book he has written while waiting for every new installment of ZF. However, the book itself had alot of action and was hilariously funny. So funny that everyone in a salon and grocery store think I am insane.
And then there's Sean Runnette. Arguably one of the best 3 narrators on audible, but there is no one better for this series. He brought them to life! Nothing will ever live up to the movies we see in our minds eye, that we hear told by Sean. Mike and BT are so different. And I don't think I'll ever forget the sounds of their voices. Or.....OMG 😱 that sound, 2 sounds Vivian Deneaux made when she thought that nuke was going to drop on Mike. (Shivering)
I guess you could say I rather enjoyed the entire experience that is Zombie Fallout. It is so very much more than a book series.
