Story
Spring, 38 AD. Far from the intrigues of Caligula's Rome, the legion fortress of Carnuntum stands alone against the forested wilderness across the Danube River. Ex-Army tribune Marcus Carinna waits nearby for his beloved, the Germanic priestess Aurima. Stunned by treason in his family, he sees one hope of earning back his honor: to recover a lost legion's sacred Eagle captured by rebels. He needs Aurima's help to succeed - but after promising months ago to win the support of her chieftain father, a brutal enemy of Rome, she still hasn't returned.

Excitement & Romance in The Dark Forests of Ancient Germania
Reviewed: 03-27-21
All the political and romantic threads from "Roma Amor" are woven past the drama of Rome, past the Rubicon, and into the dark forested wilderness of Germania. Lots of action, political intrigue, and romance keep the pace going. Start with book one but add this book (and hopefully book three?) to your library!

Story
It's AD 37. In this story of secrecy and betrayal, Caligula Caesar has just become Rome's new master. Senator Titus Carinna, who helped him succeed to the throne, knows the inexperienced young ruler needs a companion he can trust. It's a shame the Senator's older son - Caligula's closest friend - committed suicide after being charged with treason. But that still leaves Marcus, his second son. Headstrong and hot-tempered, Marcus would rather prove his courage by leading legions against Rome's enemies.

This is the story of a young, unnamed Iranian girl with a talent for carpet making and an unlucky year of living under a comet which brings her no luck but offers unexpected opportunities. I recommend it!

Story
Plain-spoken, headstrong Ophelia cares little about appearances. Her ability to read the past of objects is unmatched in all of Anima, and, what’s more, she possesses the ability to travel through mirrors, a skill passed down to her from previous generations. Her idyllic life is disrupted, however, when she is promised in marriage to Thorn, a taciturn and influential member of a distant clan. She must leave all she knows behind and follow her fiancé to Citaceleste, the capital of a cold, icy ark known as the Pole, where danger lurks around every corner and nobody can be trusted.

The ruling Asharites of Al-Rassan have come from the desert sands, but over centuries, seduced by the sensuous pleasures of their new land, their stern piety has eroded. The Asharite empire has splintered into decadent city-states led by warring petty kings. King Almalik of Cartada is on the ascendancy, aided always by his friend and advisor, the notorious Ammar ibn Khairan - poet, diplomat, soldier - until a summer afternoon of savage brutality changes their relationship forever.
