Story
It’s been a year since her wretched cad of a husband died and Valencia, the Dowager Duchess of Dedham, is finally her own woman. Flitting from party to party, freedom is sweet and life should be perfect. Until the new duke surfaces. Nothing like the haughty noblemen who populate the ton, Rhain, the newly minted Duke of Dedham, is a big brawny Welshman with an accent that makes Valencia’s knees go weak as he boldly moves into her home with his six wild unwed sisters. The rude and humorless usurper thinks her vain and spoiled.

Story
When Athena Greydon’s fiancé ends their engagement, she has no choice but to move into the Spite House she recklessly bought him as a wedding gift. Which is a problem, for several reasons: The house, originally built as a brick middle finger to the neighbors, is only ten feet wide. Her ex’s home is literally attached to hers. And Dr. Matthew Vine the Freaking Third—AKA the uptight, judgy jerk who convinced his younger brother to leave her—is living on her other side, only a four-foot alley away.

I loved Imogene and Tommy’s story. Sarah MacLean has once again excelled at creating characters and a story line to keep you at the edge of your seat and sighing with the romance of it. Excellent narration by Mary Jane Wells who brings all the characters to life so well.

Third Act Breakup was unnecessary and cruel
Reviewed: 06-11-23
I adored this book right up till the third act breakup. If your twin has a break up from an abusive toxic boyfriend it is not necessary to dump your boyfriend in order to be supportive of her in the the aftermath. That every one in the friends and family group seemed to think this was acceptable behaviour just had me shaking my head. I don’t see how trust could be rebuilt after that especially as it went on for weeks. It should have taken her no more than a few days to realize that what she was doing was hurtful and destructive to someone who has spent their life feeling not good enough. At the least there should have been a massive grand gesture.

Story
Miss Sarah Battersby is in dire need of a man, preferably one skilled at deception. Upon her father's death, she will be left with no home and nary a penny. With time running out, she must either accept the proposal of a man she loathes or stall long enough to secure a teaching position by telling one teensy, trifling lie - that she is promised to someone else...who doesn't technically exist.

Story
Painfully shy Jane Huxley is the furthest thing from a diamond of the first water. Bookish, bespectacled, and, well, plain, she never expected to befriend a dissolute charmer like Colin Lacey, much less agree to help him retrieve a lost family heirloom. Fortunately, he is nothing like his cold, rigid older brother. Unfortunately, he is not above deception if it means winning a wager. And that puts Jane in a most precarious position. For Harrison Lacey, the Duke of Blackmore, protecting his family honor is not a choice, it is a necessity.
