Story
Based on the major motion picture, The Nativity Story is the very human, very dramatic, and uniquely inspiring saga of a journey of faith. This moving novelization tells the extraordinary tale of two common people, Mary and Joseph, a miraculous pregnancy, an arduous journey, and the history-defining birth of Jesus. Brought to life with an unprecedented attention to detail and commitment to historical accuracy, Hunt tells how, from humble beginnings, great things can come.

I can't bear the narrator.
Reviewed: 12-26-24
The narration is too difficult for me to endure.
The story bounces from modern teacher pulling off a nativity program to scenes from the actual nativity. if I could endure the narration, maybe the story is good; speeding it up doesn't work. It is too softly spoken and comes across monotone. Maybe later I'll try again.

Story
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

The story is narrated very well and it is interesting from start.
But...I do not like the dark thoughts that are spoken as her mind sorts through her circumstances.

What a great story!

I am impressed with anyone who can weave a story from a small amount of Scripture, a LARGE portion of research, and their imagination. It's simply amazing.
I am not one to enjoy romances. My opinion is that romance is fictitious in and of itself. Romance novels, however, create unrealistic expectations within relationships. Thus, with my rather humbug view of said topic, I was grateful there was not a copious amount of this.
I would like to add a brief note about the reader. Although she was not a perfect reader, she did do quite well. To me, she did quite well.
While there are rare readers I cannot abide with, I can honestly give a rough approximation that 93% of readers do well enough, with around 20% of those being stamped in my mind as performers, and only half of those qualify as cream-of-the crop, if you will.
This particular reader did a fine job. Not within the desired 20% range, but she easily could be mapped on the scale at 80%, of which I carry no qualm. With such readers, I delightfully choose to adjust any expectations to that of the average fourth-grade child who raptoriously listens to their teacher read from Peppermints in the Parlor or their parents reading Bible stories for the young at bedtime. I find that this mindset is less galling to the nerve and more palatable than the bile-like remarks that some "raters trail behind themselves.
Ha ing said that, thank you to the one who took the time and effort to read this book. I certainly would not have done such a fine job. Because of your service, I was able to enjoy yet another story.

While the Author uses far too many "I said, she said, Monk said"s, I overlooked them, even though I had to remind myself to do so once in a while, this is an excellent story. I wish this would have been one of the episodes made, because this is my favorite.

Story
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

I am not even half way through this book, but i am enjoying it so much that I wanted to write a review. The story brings clarity of the things which are most important, the benefit of hard work, and most of all how important true faith is. I believe most of us take the relationship God offers to each of us for granted. This man did not.
Update!
I am now finished with this amazing story. I hope you will listen to the nearness of their trials.

Story
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there.

In 1962, Don and Carol Richardson risked their lives to share the gospel with the Sawi people of New Guinea. Peace Child tells their unforgettable story of living among these headhunters and cannibals who valued treachery through fattening victims with friendship before the slaughter. God gave Don and Carol the key to the Sawi hearts via a redemptive analogy from their own mythology.

Great story.
Narration is ok but not fantastic.
something about the way he ends his sentences in a high note and spoken as if everything must be in a hurry and choppy.
But the characters come through ok. The story is interesting enough to me that I very much wanted to hear it so I experimented with the speed a bit and found a place in which I could endure. so glad I did!
