If you’re looking for a fun cult read this is it. After a stupid mistake lands Jamie “Florida Woman” in hot water, she finds herself with a choice jail or a monkey refuge. She decides to spend her summer under house arrest at the refuge working off her sentence. Unfortunately for her life at Atlas is not all it seems.

I enjoyed the story and the few twists that were thrown in.

The perfect mystery. I was left guessing up until the end. There’s one tiny thing I’d want an answer to. But other than that I loved this book. 5 stars across the board.

This book is a story of a homecoming. A prodigal child returning. It’s a story of love and one of hate. It’s a story of two old friends reuniting. It’s one of horror.

There’s a moment in the book where my jaw dropped and I mouthed wtf. Overall I liked the book. Xe Sands voice is soothing and easily likable. Sarah’s writing is fluid and the story is engaging. There’s a few twists. The WTF one I was not expecting. The other was like a warm blanket pulled right out of the dryer. It led to an interesting conclusion.

The island is a paradise. Not tropical but perfect all the same. The people of the island love the land and everything it offers them. But every seven years it comes at a price. Some most are willing to pay. Others not so much.

I really enjoyed this book. I felt for the characters that died, felt at peace with acceptance and rational philosophy of the main character Nina and marveled at how someone’s fear of death could turn them into a monster. Someone you don’t even recognize.

Years ago, a decade maybe, I read World War Z and loved it. I would definitely say it’s in my top ten favorite books. I gotta say Devolution is in my top five. I’m a Halloween baby and love scary horror stories. Zombies and Big Foot make my heart happy.

This met all of my expectations and then some. On the one hand I loved the idea of Green Loop. I’d fight like a banshee to get my dogs and cat into my neighborhood contract, though. The idea of being semi cut off from the world in a community that is almost like a commune(cult aspects aside) has been a dream of mine for a while. Of course I think the idea of maybe having a few weapons or a satellite phone may be a great hindsight for the people of Green Loop. Not only that but maybe in the construction of such a community to build a few more exit strategies or even a bomb shelter. Again hindsight. Loved Kate and Dan and how they changed a grew in the faces of danger. And of course Mostar. Green Loop’s shining light.

I am terrible at names. Quite often I will see a movie or listen to a song x10 and I could not tell you the name or artist. I had seen her in films before, but her name like many others didn’t stick. The first time I knew of Tiffany Haddish and her name stuck was because of Groupon. Tiffany who loves Groupon was a spokesperson and as soon as I heard her voice and laugh I thought, that’s someone I can be friends with. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t know her. She is just that personable. Listening to her story it made me cry. She went through a lot of struggles through out her whole life, but she is a person with such a strong soul she took those troubles and found a way to work through them. From learning more about her you can see comedy was her saving grace. Bringing laughter into other peoples lives. I loved her book. I love that she got to tell her truth. And I love the song she included at the end.

This wonderfully refreshing audio version of Amy Poehler’s book Yes Please!, which was recorded in her vintage recording studio that she built herself, is the second time I bought this book. And I am so pleased that I did. For one, in her audio book not only do you get to hear the voice of Amy, her friends and loved ones, you also get to hear her delightful giggle. I’ve enjoyed watching Amy on tv and in movies over the years, and being able to get a glimpse behind the scenes has been a pleasure. One that you’ll enjoy immensely. Buy her book and then buy her audio book. Because real books are to be treasured and audio books are fun to listen to while at work(or in the car).

By the way, I loved you in Baby Mama and in Sisters.
