Story
For the first time New York Times bestselling author Christopher Rice writes as C. Travis Rice. Under his pen name, Rice offers tales of passion, intrigue, and steamy romance between men. The first novel, SAPPHIRE SUNSET, transports you to a beautiful luxury resort on the sparkling Southern California coast where strong-willed heroes release the shame that blocks their heart's desires.

Very satisfying book!

The conflict between the main characters was so much more realistic than most romances and the time frame for resolution so much more realistic than usual . The dialogue between the main characters read true as well. It took me a couple of chapters to get used to the narrator's voice because I have favorite narrators I'm used to, but he did a great job! I will definitely be buying the next book, and hope it will be on audio quickly!

Story
When Emery Hazard and his husband, John-Henry Somerset, arrive home from their honeymoon, they’re shocked (understatement of the year) to find a boy waiting for them on their doorstep. Colt, 15 and eager to pick a fight, claims to be Hazard’s son. It’s almost a relief, then, for Hazard and Somers to be called out to assist the Dore County Sheriff’s Department with what seems to be an impossible murder: a man has been found stabbed to death in a stretch of woods, and the only set of footprints in the soft ground belong to the victim.

Another great Hazard and Somerset book...

to be honest, I get a little frustrated with Emory and have decided he's on the autism spectrum. But it makes their stories so much more believable than the romances with unrealistically perfect characters. Their story/relationships are evolving and that saddens me somewhat because I don't want to see an end to the series. So, Gregory Ashe, can you write more status quo adventurous mysteries without moving the characters along so fast? Also, The narrator really nails it. I strongly recommend this book and series, especially if you like a strong storyline with your m/m romance.

but the romance seemed a trifle forced, rather than evolving naturally and the end was also wrapped up too quickly and neatly. I still enjoyed it tho

the cajun voice is so slurred and so much lower volume than the other character voice, that I got really tired of adjusting the volume, and rewinding to figure out what he said. Didn't get far enough to have an opinion on the story.
