Wow. Food for thought. I have always believed that anything that we imagine is a reality somewhere. And so much more that I can’t express was validated.
Worth the read even if you need to absorb it in pieces.

I’ve really enjoyed this series so far. I love the paranormal and drag combo, and the narrator is as usual great.
I wish I’d checked ahead so I could listen to the whole series, but I need to wait for the last few.

Story
When Judah Madden flees his tiny suffocating home town in New Zealand for the dream of international ballet stardom, he never intends coming back. Not to Painted Bay. Not to his family’s struggling mussel farm. Not to his jerk of a brother. Not with his entire life plan in shreds. And certainly not into the tempting arms of Morgan Wipene, the older ruggedly handsome fisheries officer who seems determined to screw with Judah’s intention to wallow in peace. But dreams are fickle things.

I have never found a book about a character having Ménière’s disease, and the fact that he was a dancer emphasizes the impact. All the information was correct, as I live with Menieres myself. I loved both characters and the overall story. Great narration.

Story
There is absolutely no logical reason why I am here. The life trajectory my nationality and class and circumstances portended for me was not even remotely close to the one I now navigate. But logic is a science and living is an art. The release I felt in writing my first memoir, Not My Father’s Son, was matched only by how my speaking out empowered so many to engage with their own trauma. I was reminded of the power of my words and the absolute duty of authenticity.

The content and your narration brings it life.
Thank you Alan for showing your heart.

Story
With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. At times suspenseful, at times deeply moving, but always incredibly brave and honest, Not My Father's Son is a powerful story of embracing the best aspects of the past and triumphantly pushing the darkness aside.

I have always enjoyed Alan Cumming’s acting and roles I’ve seen him in. This has opened a whole new perspective, in the sharing of his life experiences that shaped but could not destroy him. Because although I’m so drawn to his brogue, it is the heart and the mischief that shines through. Thanks, Alan.

I loved this story, which I think was quite enhanced by the narrator. (There are few female narrators that I like). A great story from the viewpoint of a female usually described as evil and certainly not as a central character with a viewpoint. Can’t wait for another installment. Yes, Morgan!

I have read all of this series, both the Elwood and Brinnswick Chronicles and loved it. The narration, however, is a bit cringey, and I almost returned the audiobook. Maybe just a personal opinion, but I listen to all of my favorite suburban fantasies/romances on audio after I read them. Regretful that this audio did nothing to bring it more to life.
