Story
As an A&R man at Epic Records, Tom Werman helped introduce the world to REO Speedwagon, Boston, Ted Nugent, and Cheap Trick; he also discovered KISS, Rush, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, but his record label passed on all of them. Then, as an independent producer, he oversaw landmark albums by Mötley Crüe, Twisted Sister, Lita Ford, Jeff Beck, Poison, and many more. All in all, his record-making resume includes twenty-three gold- or platinum-selling albums and cumulative sales of more than fifty-two million copies.

It almost felt like a drinking game. For a man who arguably peaked in his musical career in the mid 80's and back to the early 70's, how he continually found a reason to bring up and dig on Trump and Donald Trump Junior was really bizarre. Like you were supposed to drink when it came up...again at the most odd times. The overall story was lacking, he was certainly good at his job but failed to give that to the reader if you didn't already know anything about his recorded work beforehand. He also whines a lot while noting that he "doesn't". There were many instances in the book which factually could not have happened as the pop-culture he mentioned had not been invented yet. This along with the Trump stuff made me wonder exactly how good his memory really is anyway and how certain these facts could be. Like claiming that he "Didn't want to Make Rocky 8" when at the time he said it there may have been at best, one or two Rocky Movies. He also fumbled the facts about the Rockstar movie and the basis for it by having stuck to the movie version of the story while claiming it as the real version while it is common knowledge that the movie is very loosely based on a true story...with a lot of added fiction.

Story
Meet Phil Collen. You may know him as the lead guitarist in Def Leppard, whose signature song "Pour Some Sugar on Me" is still as widely enjoyed as when it debuted in 1988. Maybe you've heard of him as the rock star who gave up alcohol and meat more than 25 years ago. Most likely you've seen him shirtless - in photos or in real life - flaunting his impeccably toned body to appreciative female fans.

So much life, so short a book
Reviewed: 12-25-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Yes, I would add much more to it.
What was most disappointing about Phil Collen and Chris Epting - contributor ’s story?
That the Story was so short and yet what was presented was so coherent. There was no reason to make the book so short.
Which character – as performed by Steve West – was your favorite?
Narration was great.
Was Adrenalized worth the listening time?
Yes
Any additional comments?
When you find a guy like Phil who can recall such details and clearly states when he cannot, it's a shame not to extract more story from him and get it into the book. Also rare to find a Rock Star of this caliber who is not conceded to take the entire success all for himself. I wanted to hear more about everything especially the making of the albums and Band dynamics. These guys fought wars in the Studio making some Classic albums and I think the listener should get to hear about this. You do get some intimate details about Phil's life and I appreciate that but as a Fan of his work for 30 years now, I still know more about the Band from just being a fan than I would have learned in this book. I do come away from this book with much more respect for Phil though, his craft speaks for itself but the person is really a kind and well worn soul.
