Story
All I need to do is keep my head above water. Push a little harder. Keep that smile plastered on my face for my son as we try to wade through the new life that's threatening to drown us both. But on the first day I can't seem to hold it all together, I meet him. And for some reason, he comes to my aid. Before I know it, Cole steps in and becomes an important part of my life. Our lives. Fills a void left vacant by a man who never wanted to fill it in the first place. Too bad he can never be more than a friend.

Just such a drag
Reviewed: 10-25-24
Soft spoiler, I can't stand that the MMC wastes most of the book stringing along his snotty girlfriend. It is definitely a slow burn. Otherwise, not terrible. The narration is pretty decent.

Story
Signing on as a company driver for Brandt Ideas felt like a dream. Big-girl salary. Stellar benefits. Glorious people - minus one. Nicholas Brandt was put on Earth to drive me insane. Of course, he's my boss man. He spent the first month mistaking me for a dude. Then he “apologized” with the grace of a drunken moose. A perfect grump with a brutal reputation. A heart-thief sculpted like a fallen angel. A master at making me question all of my life decisions. Why is it always the terrible ones who make a girl tingle?

Slow Slow burn
Reviewed: 09-12-24
This one is a painfully slow burn, and by the time the main characters actually got together I was about ready to give up listening. Both main characters are hard to like at times, and a large portion of the middle is just unnecessary.

Story
You’d think nearly dying trying to get out of a too-tight gown in a dressing room and being saved by a strong, competent man was a good thing. Not so much, though, when that strong, competent man is your ex. Your secret ex. And the reason you need a gown is because you’re part of a charity auction. The charity auction where he gets into a bidding war to win you. And now, because you’re one of few female coaches in professional baseball, and he’s the captain of the local professional hockey team, and he paid a ridiculous sum of money for you…

It was such a slog to get theough this one. It felt like this book was just an excuse to have character cameos from all previous books. There wasn't much conflict. It was just two characters that need to get out of their own way. I love Tim Paige though.

Story
My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

There is not enough Sebastian York in this one. Plus, it ends up being more of a family story rather than a romance, and I was kind of disappointed.

Hollywood screenwriter Sawyer Walsh knows a good love story when he sees it. But when it comes to real life romance, he’s a mess. That’s how he finds himself standing at the altar…as his ex-girlfriend ties the knot with his very famous best friend. The pressure, the resentment, the media coverage—it’s all too much—and before he knows exactly what he’s doing, he’s making a run for it, leaving a shocked congregation and flashing cameras in his wake.

I like the author's other books, but this one is a miss for me. It is unnecessarily long. The FMC spends over half of the book stringing along her perfectly decent boyfriend, and by the time she ends it I've almost totally lost interest in the romance which is also drawn out.

It was supposed to be an innocent night, celebrating my brother’s birthday. Nothing was supposed to go wrong. We’d vowed to be on our best behavior after all.... But it only took one rowdy night with my brothers to flip my world upside down. One unlucky encounter saddled us with a family curse and the promise of doomed relationships. I laughed it off immediately. “Yeah, right,” I thought. “A love curse. Ha!” Boy, was I wrong.

It is very long winded on parts that don't matter. The MMC is kind of puss. The sexy parts are too technical, and the narrators are a bit dull. I expected more laughs just based on who the author is, but was a bit disappointed. It's mostly just basic.

Anneliese Nielsen, Donovan’s fiancée.

What could possibly go wrong fake dating the gorgeous single dad in a small town? The answer, you fall for him. It started out perfect. Grady Whitlock needed a plus one for his business meetings, and I needed a date for a wedding. We had a plan. It was a good one. Until it wasn’t. I was not supposed to have feelings for him. I was not going to let my heart race when his soulful blue eyes stared into mine. No way should I have noticed his smile or the dimple on his right cheek or his strong arms when he held me close.
