This book tells a very different view of life during the holocaust. A story of survival, love, sacrifice, pain, and perseverance. She is my hero. I'm amazed at how she could carry on being stuck between two worlds but yet her own came through in the end.
The narrator is awesome also! I'd listen to it again and I will!

A very enjoyable story! I enjoy Rachel Wessons books. A Home for Unloved Orphans is a heartbreaking story of love, choices, persistence, hope, and bonds between those you love. I had a hard time putting it aside to go to bed or work. 😊
I wasn't impressed with the narration but wanted to know what happened so I put it on 1.2 speed and sometimes 1.5 to make it bearable to listen to. I'll have to do the same for the next one in the series because I want to know what happens next. You knows it's a good story if you can get through narration.

Absolutely love the story and how well it's written. Keeps me captivated, not wanting to put it down.
But there is a spot in here that would make me not want to let my teen or child read this. Too detailed of a scene!

A very well written book. It kept me intrigued from start to finish. Bouncing from present day back to her grandmothers years of heartache, survival, and overcoming the odds that were set before her. Also telling the story of her grandfather, Who is also very much part of that heartache, survival, and obstacles they had to overcome. it kept me intrigued because of the little clues that were dropped along the way.

Such an amazing accounting of persistants and love that leads down a road of discovery for Eve and her family to find the truth buried deep with many obstacles to get around. This is a story of love, sacrifice, tragedy, loss, and what one will do for those they love. Also amazing how Eve with the help of those around her, didn't give up when she could have so easily.
They say the truth will come out in the end. Or as my grandmother taught me that "everything will come out in the wash"

Story
Ryan and Phil had always been inseparable. Twins born 35 minutes apart, Ryan was the protective one, constantly looking out for his younger brother. They can't remember how old they were when the abuse started, but they can remember their uncle very clearly. A frequent visitor to their home in Lincoln, he lavished their family with expensive treats. School holidays and weekends were spent visiting him, when he would often take the two little boys aside to play the games he liked. Trapped with him, day after day, year after year, the abuse continued until Ryan and Phil turned 16.
