Listen to this book! You'll like it. Actually better than that other book about hiking the Appalachian Trail. This guy actually hiked the trail and the insight from the experience was great!

Story
Andrew Roberts' Napoleon is the first one-volume biography to take advantage of the recent publication of Napoleon's thirty-three thousand letters, which radically transform our understanding of his character and motivation. At last we see him as he was: protean multitasker, decisive, surprisingly willing to forgive his enemies and his errant wife Josephine.

Definitely great to hear it from someone who was there. Churchill was a professional writer and historian and it shows in the quality of the work. Excellently narrated. If you like WW2 history you will love this.

Story
Only three lifetimes ago, Europe was a farming society ruled by families of monarchs. But with two seismic tremors - capitalism and democracy - Europe's economic and royal foundations were shattered forever and modern European history began. In this series of 48 fascinating lectures, Professor Childers makes the history of Europe from the 1750s to the present - events both horrible and magnificent - as immediate as today's headlines, employing the historian's craft and a storyteller's skill to find the causes of what otherwise could seem to be the march of folly.

Professor Thomas Childer's narration is solid. The storybline is good, modern western history. If you enjoy history, I think you'll enjoy this series of lectures. The professor nails the ending! One of the best examples I can think of how to close a class, book, or series of lectures. I'll be looking for more from Thomas Childers.

Story
When Autobiography of a Yogi first appeared in 1946, it was acclaimed as a landmark work in its field. The New York Times hailed it as "a rare account". Newsweek pronounced it "fascinating". The San Francisco Chronicle declared, "Yogananda presents a convincing case for yoga, and those who 'came to scoff' may remain 'to pray." Today it is still one of the most widely read and respected books ever published on the wisdom of the East.

Story
Centuries ago, Spanish conquistadors searching for gold and new lands encountered a group of independent city-states in Mesoamerica. Sophisticated beyond the Spaniards' wildest imaginings, these people were the Aztecs, the Maya, and related cultures that shared common traditions of religion, government, the arts, engineering, and trade. In many ways more advanced than European nations, these societies equaled the world's greatest civilizations of their time.

Great Lecture Series!
Reviewed: 08-27-18
I like the professor, Edwin Barnhart. He knows how to tell a good story. The story of the Mayas needs no embellishment to be absolutely riveting. and it is riveting. Also, the Aztec story is amazing. Some historical subjects might be tedious, but this stuff really isn't. I do not reccomend the series on North American Indigenous peoples by the same professor, that lecture series is pretty boring (sorry Mr. Barnhart) This series was awesome.
