Story
Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama, has just married off the last of her daughters and is looking forward to relaxing and perhaps traveling with her husband, Earle. The only thing left to contend with is her mother, the formidable Lenore Simmons Krackenberry. Lenore may be a lot of fun for other people, but is, for the most part, an overbearing presence for her daughter. Then one day, quite by accident, Sookie discovers a secret about her mother's past that knocks her for a loop and suddenly calls into question everything she ever thought she knew about herself, her family, and her future.

Story
Like many Brits, Dick and Angel had long dreamed of living in France, but where others might settle for a modest bolthole in the French countryside, the Strawbridges fell in love with a 19th-century fairy-tale chateau, complete with 45 rooms, seven outbuildings, 12 acres of land and its own moat. Throwing caution to the wind, Dick and Angel swapped their two-bedroom flat in East London for an abandoned and derelict castle in the heart of the Loire valley and embarked on the adventure of a lifetime with their two young children, Arthur and Dorothy.

Nicholas Boulton is my new favorite narrator and Laura Kinsale is a new to me favorite author. I alternated between listening and reading the paperback. I couldn't put this one down.
Such a unique story. I might have ugly cried near the end. It's earned a spot on my keeper shelf. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. And listening to Nicholas read more books.

Story
Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing however delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

I thoroughly enjoyed this radio type drama. I'm not an expert on Austen and I've never read Emma. I've seen the movie adaptations. I was delighted with this version. I have already purchased another version of Emma to compare. Thank you Audible. I will be listening to this again.

Whew. Hot. In. Here.
I was not TEAM MARC until this book. And yeah, I'm fairly certain that this is my favorite of all favorite I Team stories. Erotic interludes that melted my ears, a thrilling/terrifying terrorist attack that had me on the edge of my seat and white knuckling my steering wheel to and from work.
Thank you Kaleo Griffith for bringing my favorite characters to life. Thank you Pamela Clare for creating this world.

The story started out great and I was excited to read it. I enjoyed the first book and loved that Kaleo Griffith was narrating the second book as well.
Brandon and Megan definitely had a spark but I felt it ignited into love way too soon. It ignited into a few sappy cheesy scenes that had me cringing.
Overall though, a nice HEA.

Story
Folksy and fresh, endearing and affecting, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe is the now-classic novel of two women in the 1980s; of gray-headed Mrs. Threadgoode telling her life story to Evelyn, who is in the sad slump of middle age. The tale she tells is also of two women - of the irrepressibly daredevilish tomboy Idgie and her friend Rut - -who back in the thirties ran a little place in Whistle Stop, Alabama, a Southern kind of Cafe Wobegon offering good barbecue and good coffee and all kinds of love and laughter, even an occasional murder.

I am adding Lorna Raver to my list of favorite narrators. She brought this book to life and I plan on listening to it again and again.
I fell in love with the movie and I've been meaning to read this book for years. I'm so glad I finally did. It fills in so much that was missing from the movie. In fact, they feel like two completely different worlds. Book and movie.
Mrs. Threadgood made me feel like I was spending time with my beloved grandparents again and listening to their stories of the depression. I love this book even more for that.
Oh...and the old fashioned recipes at the end of the book. I'm so glad I kept my hardcover.
