If I had to hear them reference the way those two met one more time...
I'm not a fan of this in-love-because-looks thing that's old and overdone. They're both gorgeous, able-bodied White men, so they have so much in common? I really don't understand why this couple feels they have to be together, and it's frustrating.

I'm a bit creeped out by this family and the indoctrination of the people in it/ surrounding it. That aspect is uncomfortable for me because it's not really acknowledged in the novel that the way they're acting is abnormal and not dramatically overbearing. Anywho, I enjoy a novel with some solid self-pitying and people with martyr complexes, so I enjoyed the experience of audio reading it in general. The characters are mostly consistent within themselves, which is nice, and the sex is mostly hot and not overdone. I just don't know about this creepily-connected family and its devoted hangers on.

Morgan King and his team of Argonaut agents have been on the hunt all summer for the culprits behind a series of gruesome killings that have rocked the city. When Fate puts Cassius in Morgan's path, he realizes the angel everyone likes to call The Devil may very well be the only person who can help them track down the murderers.

This novel neeeeeeeeeds to remove the description of "The Oriental Woman" from the audiobook (chapter 8) YESTERDAY. I almost metaphorically threw this thing out the window after hearing it. The novel is otherwise pretty good and interesting, but slurs really don't do it for me, so I'm not sure how to evaluate. You can call a rug Oriental, not a sentient being.

Story
Mason Hanks has returned to Rainbow Cove, Oregon with one goal in mind: turn the struggling coastal community into a thriving LGBTQ tourism destination. Step one is transforming an old bar and grill into a gay-friendly eatery. Step two? Don't piss off Nash Flint, the very hot, very stern chief of police who's not so sure he's on board with Mason's big plans. Nash Flint just wants to keep his community safe and enjoy the occasional burger in peace. He's not big on change nor is he a fan of Mason's troublemaking family, especially his rowdy older brothers.

Frustrating, Irrational Characters
Reviewed: 11-20-24
The plot is alright: closeted cop and out business owner with a chaotic and criminal family crossing paths. My issue, which takes away from the story significantly, is the bizarre criminal family members' behaviors and the lead's responses to them. It's difficult to root for someone who allows people to trample on his feelings time and time again. Either the author should have given fewer examples of these behaviors (we get it, let's move on in the plot), or the author could have shown an episode of further personal growth from the lead at each instance of badgering from family. Are we beating the dead horse for increased sympathy? I don't want to get started on the accents, but they're not good, and these country folks with limited education sure do have expansive vocabularies. Okay, I'm done now.

Bookstore owner Aubrey Barnes likes his quiet, orderly London life, thank you very much. His shop may be struggling, his only employee is a menace, and his plumbing is one creaky pipe away from disaster, but he can handle it. Maybe. He cannot, however, handle the film company that's thrown his Soho street into chaos. And he definitely can't handle the charismatic American actor Blake Sinclair.

I enjoyed this novel. It's very sweet and the characters are interesting. Some of the film industry stuff doesn't make sense, but that's background, so can be ignored. Narrator pleasant.

Story
Red Ridley knows he could have a happy life in Ever After, New York, waiting on tables at Mom and Pop's, making numbers add up for clients, studying business at the junior college - and maybe, just maybe having the man of his dreams, Mark Woods, the young owner of the local garage. One problem. Red's gorgeous. And no one who sees him - especially his grandmother, who's his biggest promoter - believes he won't end up on the cover of a magazine. Red doesn't want to leave Mark, but Gran has given everything to raise him, and the money he could make would give her a happy, easy life.

I like some of this author's novels much more. Two thirds of the novel is Red knowing he doesn't want to be a model, but allowing various pressures to influence him one way or another. There's minimal romance between the two male protagonists, but they're super into one another and I'm not sure why.

Earning a full scholarship to King University was my hard-earned ticket out of hell. I'm happy to be away from the small town I grew up in. King was going to be my safe haven. A place where I could leave the old me behind and finally grow into the young man my family had desperately tried to hide away. Diving head first into new experiences, new friends, and parties, I didn't expect to run straight into the one thing I wasn't ready for.

It is challenging for me to root for this pair, as the older professor doesn't seem to make reasonable, mature, or logical choices throughout the novel. There are excuses that can be made for the college freshman. Not to stereotype professors as intelligent, but I would expect they would know not to kiss a student at a school function. Voice actor performances are fine, but some words are mispronounced and some sentences have incorrect emphasis.

This job sucks but someone's got to do it. My readers expect me to chronicle my very real, very steamy encounters in my novels. I'd never want to disappoint my fans, but the creative well has run a bit dry. Burlington, Vermont, seems like a good place to fill it up. This town offers a tempting array of artists, craftsmen, farmers, lumbersexuals . . . and so many beards. But no one prepared me for Brody. He's young. He's hot. He's definitely a grump. And he's getting under my skin. Where I want him is under my bed sheets.

This is probably the most unnecessarily dramatic installment of the series, and at times, I found myself rolling my eyes in frustration at the characters or writing. I have difficulty with the idea that these two people would be so fixated on one another for 6 years but never see each other during that time. There's not a good enough explanation for the extended separation, and it's all so very over-the-top with everybody's emotions. Not my favorite of the series, but it's still decent.

Felix and Lane are trying out their new normal. No more car chases, no more drug lords, and no more kidnapping bad guys. But when Felix's brother wants to repair their relationship, he brings with him a secret that could cost all of them their lives. Lane isn't complaining because the thrills of life-threatening situations are right up his alley. They may think they have a handle on the situation, but what they do not know is that someone has been working them from the shadows. Forcing them to do exactly what he wants as he drives them closer to his sick game of life and death.

Reviewed: 08-31-24
The previous novel in the series is far more believable, and this one is nearly silly with how bizarre the situations are. There's too long in a SAW type of scenario with a really boring escape room. This sociopath dude put a whole lot of time/energy into a puzzle for people he just met. Not buying the premise, not buying the decisions made by the established characters from the first novel, not into it at all. I'm not bothering with the next one.
