I could not stop listening. Claire Danes performance entrances you into this story. Females do not have rights. Rights are rooted in history. They are concrete. What women have had are privileges. Privileges are malleable and can be taken away. Women and minorities feel this in our chromosomes and DNA, constantly questioning and needing reassurance. This is not a dystopian future. It is happening in the world right now, somewhere.

This is so beautifully done. I was so captured by the reading and the story. I had to stop it twice while driving because I was crying and couldn't see the road. A must hear.

What made the experience of listening to Yes Please the most enjoyable?
Amy Poehler should read MORE audio books. Listening to her was very entertaining and fun. I wish there had been more. Most of her stories are light-hearted and enjoyable, but I feel like there is SO much more below the surface that was untouched and protected through the laughter. Maybe she'll be less afraid to delve deeper in the next book.

What did you love best about I Don't Know What You Know Me From?
There is something endearing about Judy Greer that makes her almost instantly likable. There is nothing mind blowing about the book as far as content, except to say that it made me like her more. Listening to this book is like making a new friend: you get to hear all the past stories, thoughts, ideas, dreams, hopes, and gaffes. it's a one sided relationship at this point, but you know, she IS an actress (hee, hee). Very enjoyable listen.

Story
Anyone who saw an episode of Saturday Night Live between 1999 and 2006 knows Rachel Dratch. She was hilarious! So what happened to her? After a misbegotten part as Jenna on the pilot of 30 Rock, Dratch was only getting offered roles as "Lesbians. Secretaries. Sometimes secretaries who are lesbians." Her career at a low point, Dratch suddenly had time for yoga, dog- sitting, learning Spanish - and dating. After all, what did a forty-something single woman living in New York have to lose?

Where does Girl Walks into a Bar... rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I enjoyed it and listened to it in 2 days.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Girl Walks into a Bar...?
the overall tone of the book. She is so adorable and likeable and relatable. I think that is her strength. I'd like to see her focus more on that and she is really good at doing audiobooks. doesn't sound like she is reading from a script

but you can't half them. I was completely engrossed in this book. It felt metamorphic for me UNTIL the last 30 minutes, then it got all complicated by the same BS I thought she was trying to overcome and escape. Disappointed in the ending, BUT the rest was soooooo good that it made it worth purchase.

Thriller scribe Sophie Katz is as hard-boiled as a woman who drinks Grande Caramel Brownie Frappuccionos can be. So Sophie knows it's not paranoia, or post-divorce, living-alone-again jitters, when she becomes convinced that a crazed reader is sneaking into her apartment to reenact scenes from her books. The police, however, can't tell a good plot from an unmarked grave.

This was a fun audiobook with snappy dialogue that kept me interested until the end. The finale was a little anticlimactic, but the interactions amongst the characters kept me interested. I already bought the second. Nice, light listening.

Story
You've either done it or know someone who has: the one-night stand, the familiar outcome of a night spent at a bar, sometimes the sole payoff for your friend's irritating wedding, or the only relief from a disastrous vacation. Often embarrassing and uncomfortable, occasionally outlandish, but most times just a necessary and irresistible evil, the one-night stand is a social rite as old as sex itself and as common as a bar stool.

I read this book last year, and I enjoyed the book so much that I bought the audio book to listen to as I run (I enjoy comedy when running).
Why didn't Chelsea Handler narrate this? She narrated her last book, and it was GREAT GREAT GREAT. The narrator was reading a story to me, and it felt like that. Like I was just being read to; Chelsea was so good in her last audio book I felt like she was telling me a story.
The book is the same, but I think I would have enjoyed this more with Chelsea Handler. Even the sarcasm and some of the jokes didn't come through.

In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. This is the first time I have ever reviewed a book, but I just HAD to put my opinion out there. This is BY FAR thee best audio book I have ever listened to. The narrators are TELLING me a story (not reading one to me). They were fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. I laughed out loud numerous times, and I was brought to tears numerous times.
It was so very well written that when it was over I was sad. I wanted more. I needed to know what happened to Skeeter, Minnie, Celia (who I loved), and Abeline (s/p). I loved these women, and I was sad that it was over. I enjoyed having them in my life, and the content of the story is moving and touching. It made me want a better America and a better world. All of that in a work of fiction? You betcha.
