Positive Child:
As parents that didn't have a lot of positive examples of parenting in our own life, my wife and I have tried to not repeat the "mistakes" we feel our parents did. That has proven to yield mixed results in our own child. We are truly blessed and he is a great kid, but he acts out like any child does. After going through this book, I honestly wish I had something like this when he was still a baby. I think we could have avoided many of the issues we've encountered on our own. Definitely worth picking up.
Confident Child:
As with the other book by this author/narrator duo, I really wish I would have found books like this when my son was a baby. I think it would have been very helpful in equipping my wife and I to handle things better with our son. I found a lot of this book insightful and interesting. The section that I think I got the most from is the section on emotional intelligence. EQ and expressing my emotions are things that I have struggled with myself and often feel lost and powerless when my son is experiencing strong emotions. The explanations and suggestions were structured in a way that makes this whole subject a bit more digestible and I feel a little better equipped to better help my son.
The narration is well done. I didn't notice any real problems with the audio, but I feel I got much more out of the PDF than I did from listening.

Story
Our confidence is what gets us through life. It’s our helmets, life jackets, seatbelts, and mouthguards. Seeing your child battle with low self-esteem and self-doubt is not easy, and your first inclination might be to lock them in a bubble and shield them from the harsh realities of life. But taking that approach will undoubtedly do them more harm than good.

Story
You want the best for your child, it’s true, and you might think that “the best” is gifting them with material things that will only bring momentary happiness. For those of you who can’t afford to do so, you see yourselves as failing parents. The truth is, what saves our children and what saves a family are the things that can’t be bought, but can only be taught, learned, and practiced.

I was so excited to get to listen to the next book in this series. I absolutely devoured the book in a very short time. Like about a day and a half. The pace is great, the unique approach Hondo Jinx has to the magic system is really cool. I absolutely love the characters and really enjoy the story. Yes, it is a harem style story, but I feel like it doesn't beat you in the face with it. It is just part of the story and the MC hooking up with all of these women serve a purpose. It's not just sex for sex. Anyway, the narration continues to be incredible, but that is no surprise when Andrea Parsneau is reading. I could just listen to her all the time and be happy. I just wish the next book would come out faster so I can continue the series. I mean, let's be honest, once you've gone a book or three into a series with an awesome narrator, it's just not the same to read it.

This was actually a great book. It was pretty entertaining and very well performed. The characters are interesting and the dialog was entertaining. I would say this is dark fantasy, but not so dark as to be overwhelming. All in all, I enjoyed the listen and would definitely be up for more.

I have to admit, this was a rather good listen. The narrator does a great job of bringing the story to life. Although this is a sci fi romance, the author really did a good job of balancing the romantic elements with sci fi tropes and action. It felt like it had heart but was still fun. A little short for my tastes, but worth a listen.

So, I find it hard to articulate my thoughts on this book, but I'll do my best. The story, itself, is interesting and very complex. That is not a bad, thing, though. It just requires you to pay attention or you can start to get lost. I primarily listen to audio books in my truck as I commute to/from work. During some parts I was forced to pay close attention to traffic and I didn't really "capture" what had happened. I found myself going, "wait, what's happening?" I backed the audio up and re-listened and was fine, but if you aren't someone who can mentally multitask or just not used to listening to audio books, you could have trouble following the larger story line. For me, this is actually a plus. I love complex stories that have depth and nuance. I find them mentally stimulating. I really felt like this book was very well executed. The characters are interesting. They have depth and substance.
The narrator did a good job in giving them life. You could tell who was talking by the voice, as each character was unique. The overall pacing is good. The beginning of the book you are kind of dropped into what feels like the middle of the story, but stick with it and things will be put into place. I won't go into too much detail on the story/plot. You can read the author's synopsis for that. What I will say is this is a fantastic blend of spy thriller and science fiction. There are some "religious" elements, but it's not like a certain belief is forced down your throat. It just is used to world-build and drive the story in some part. If this sounds like something you'd like, I would HIGHLY recommend this book. I eagerly await the next one.

I loved this book. I will start off by saying how awesome the narration is. Andrea Parsneau did a superb job of bringing this book to life. I also really love how this author approached the whole magic system in this world. A cool, unique approach I don't recall reading/listening about before. All in all, this is a great start to the series and I am very excited book 2 just came out!!!
