Story
On the fringes of the Cicatrix Maledictum, the Black Templars of the Second Dorean Crusade tear through the void to join the crusade fleet on the sands of Tempest – an ancient, storied shrine world. Assailed by the murderous warbands of the Blood God, the crusade has come to burn the planet clean of the Ruinous Powers once and for all. But when a violent warp storm scatters the fleet, the Dauntless Honour is left battered and alone in the void. Besieged by doubt, Castellan Emeric and his brothers must cling to their faith and carve a way to Tempest.

Excellent Story and Performance
Reviewed: 01-14-25
If you are a Black Templar or World Eaters fan, this one is an absolute must. I"ll say most fans of the Warhammer 40k universe need to give this a listen. Excellent story that makes you feel many, significantly different characters. A special note to the performance on this one. A great narrator can elevate a good story, but this performance was superb with an excellent story. Highly, highly recommend.

It is Tim Curry, at his best, reading Dickens. Do I really need to say anything else about why you need this in your collection and should enjoy it every December?

Great Lore for the Leagues
Reviewed: 12-26-24
The Leagues of Votaan haven"t been fleshed out much to this point. This novel is not only a fantastic step in doing just that, but is an excellent story independent of that fact. The Kyn are an exceptionally likeable and engaging group of protagonists, and I highly recommend this to any fans of the setting.

All the while, other forces are at work in the darkness, and should Coteaz succumb to their alluring power, billions will fall with him.

Inquisitor Lord Coteaz, High Protector of the Formosa Sector, has long been one of my favorite models (the original) and characters in the realm of 40k. This book just reaffirmed that feeling. Excellent story following one of the most impressive Inquisitors.

This is seriously one of the best Black Library books ever produced. There are so many fabulous characters, and the portrayal of the Lion, how he has changed, and how he has grown is excellent. Also, a superb performance is turned in as well.

Cypher remains as mysterious as ever
Reviewed: 08-07-23
First and foremost, the performance of this reading is spectacular. Some of the most spot on voice work in any of the Black Library audiobooks I have listened to.
Story does an excellent job of following Cypher, the Fallen, and the Dark Angels trying to catch them on Terra without removing Cypher"s mystique. I feel I know Cypher better now, though perhaps not his motives. Dark Angels fans should absolutely take time with this one.
