Story
Sixteen-year-old Deka lives in fear and anticipation of the blood ceremony that will determine whether she will become a member of her village. Already different from everyone else because of her unnatural intuition, Deka prays for red blood so she can finally feel like she belongs. But on the day of the ceremony, her blood runs gold, the color of impurity–and Deka knows she will face a consequence worse than death.

Okay, so when I first picked up this book I didn’t know what to expect. When I originally read the synopsis, it had me hooked for a release. Something that hasn’t happened in a very long time. I was excited to support a newer author.
The first half of the book made me super sad. It was great, but the actions of man made me super sad through out this story. As I continued reading, the character development got better. The story continued to hook me more and more. I listened to the audio version which helped make it that much better as well. Lol.
He twist and turns this story took throughout the read, surprised me and weren’t super obvious like in so many stories before this. The ending and main twist of the story truly caught me off guard. Please read this book. I’m in hardcore need of a second book to this story. It’s so good. So so so so good.

Story
Since moving to Mystic Harbor, Maine, I've made it my life's mission to avoid Reese Blackburn at all costs. Sure, he has cheekbones that could cut glass, not to mention bedroom eyes that could melt any girl into a puddle on the floor. Too bad that doesn't change the fact he's completely stab-worthy. When a fun night out on the town turns deadly, I quickly discover the quaint little hamlet of Mystic Harbor houses more than sandy beaches and adorable B&Bs. Beneath the New England charm rests a world where shifters, demons, vampires, and angelic hunters all vie for power.

So I won't lie, it took me a bit to actually get into it at first. Then continuing to read, I was beyond hooked. I thought the first couple of chapters were somewhat slow but those are where the building happens, so you can't really get too upset about that. After that though, it going non stop. Plot twists and turns that you don't see coming. There were a lot of emotions felt while reading this book and it takes a special book to do that to me. Please read you won't regret it. Can't wait to see the rest of the story unfold in the future.

Though I’m not the biggest fan of the ending, but overall this series was great. Lots of thrills, tears, frustration, and all kinds of other feelings were felt while reading. The characters are great. The story is attention holding. I loved them over all. Definitely will recommend this to other readers.

Story
Sixteen-year-old Zoey Redbird has just been Marked as a fledgling vampire and joins the House of Night, a school where she will train to become an adult vampire. That is, if she makes it through the Change - and not all of those who are Marked do. It sucks to begin a new life, especially away from her friends, and on top of that, Zoey is no ordinary fledgling. She has been chosen as special by the vampire Goddess Nyx.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would most definitely recommend this book to anyone. When I first started reading/listening, it was one that I didn't think I was going to like very much at all. Until about the third of fourth chapter. After reaching that point, I was completely under the spell of the house of night series. It's full of twists and turns, as well as comedy and romance. It's a perfect book to listen/read if you are looking for nothing but entertainment.
What did you like best about this story?
What I loved the most about this story, is the fact that this young girls entire life is changed in literally a days time, and as soon as she arrives at the house of night, she is immediately welcomed with open arms into a small amazing group of young teens much like herself. The bond between the main character and her best friend, reminds me so much of myself and my best friend. It's like P.C. Kast and her daughter called us before writing the story.
Have you listened to any of Edwina Wren’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the only series I have listened too of hers, and I must say she is just amazing. She has a different voice for every character, and never seems like she is becoming mono-toned.
