Story
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules...with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos "pretending" to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Story
You’ve been excited about this getaway for months–at last, a chance to reconnect with your husband at a secluded island resort. But when he unexpectedly calls you from the beach, you hear the urgency in his voice. Something is very wrong. The beautiful waitress from the restaurant last night has been found lying dead in the sand. And the police want to question your husband about it. Sure, you saw him glance at her over dinner a few times, but you know he didn’t have anything to do with the poor girl’s death.

I pretty much can always guess the ending, but not this one. I enjoyed the story. Finished it in 2 days. Good, easy listen. Was a bit confusing at first figuring out who was who, as there are several couples on vacation. Would recommend.

Okay, you're going to guess it right away. That's okay, still enjoyable AND it's a free listen if you have the Plus membership. Can't complain much about free. The end did have a bit of a twist, tiny twist, not much, but still a little something extra in there. Good listen while multi-tasking (cleaning, chores, driving, working...).

This book was hard for me to follow in this format. There are 2 sisters alone in their home in a winter storm. 2 strangers (aka cute boys) show up, an escaped convict on the loose, there's an angry ex... It was hard for me to follow along on which boy was doing what. I read this book as a teen and I think it would be easier to read in paperback. Was still an okay listen. I loved these books as a teen!
