Acerca de esta escucha

Sari Solden specializes in working with ADD adults and their partners. Her first book, Women with Attention Deficit Disorder, has sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide. Now, in Journeys Through ADDulthood, she takes a groundbreaking look at the emotional turmoil often precipitated by ADD and offers listeners roadmaps to richer, happier lives.

Living with ADD affects the development of one's view of self, especially for those not diagnosed until adulthood, after an entire childhood of feeling "different" without knowing why. There are no quick fixes - Solden takes a longer view of the challenges and sees living with ADD as an ongoing internal process. Journeys Through ADDulthood is a step-by-step guide through three stages, or journeys: toward understanding your brain and your primary symptoms; toward discovering your true identity and embracing your uniqueness; and toward learning to share your true self to connect with others.

Illuminating her points based on the real-life journeys of two men and two women, Solden offers self-help exercises at the end of each chapter to point the way around common roadblocks on the road to empowerment, self-fulfillment, and the realization of long-buried dreams and goals.

Learn the general from a big-picture perspective

The realization of how your ADHD brain influences behavior so undetected may occur in cycles. This book takes the read through phases of the characters lives that you can relate to in more ways than one. It is a pleasurable audio book to listen to over a road trip. Overall, I felt a sense of connection, affirmation, and confirmation that was comforting.

Women with Inattentive ADHD

I always love the books and webinars Sari does as she understands what it is like for women with ADD/ADHD. I wish I lived near her so I could see her myself.

Narrator conveys that ADHD is a tragedy.....

I have tremendous respect for Ms. Solden's work and routinely recommend it to my clients. This book's softer, emotion-focused approach fills an important need, and I was eager to share it with clients who need an audio version. Unfortunately, the narrator's somewhat melodramatic reading and tragic affect make me hesitate. I don't want my clients viewing ADHD as a tragedy, and I doubt Ms. Solden does either. One's tone can convey empathy without projecting sympathy and tragedy. One convey empathy while at the same time conveying optimism and energy. This reading does not do that, sadly.
