Acerca de esta escucha

Erich von Däniken again shows his flair for revealing truths that his contemporaries have missed. After closely analyzing hundreds of ancient and apparently unrelated texts, he is now ready to proclaim that human history is nothing like the world religions claim---and he has the proof! In History Is Wrong, von Däniken takes a closer look at the fascinating Voynich manuscript, which has defied all attempts at decription since its discovery, and makes some intriguing revelations about the equally incredible book of Enoch.

Von Däniken also unearths the astounding story of a lost subterranean labyrinth in Ecuador said to be home to an extensive library of thousands of gold panels. He supplies evidence that the metal library has links not only to the Book of Enoch but also to the Mormons, who have spent decades searching for it, believing it to contain the history of their forefathers. And what about the mysterious lines in the desert of Nazca that resemble landing strips when viewed from the air? Archeologists claim they are ancient procession routes. "Think again!" cries von Däniken, as he reveals the data that the archeologists never even thought to check. History Is Wrong will challenge your intellect---and maybe a few long-held beliefs, too.

Good Book Ruined By Bad Reader

If you've seen Von Daniken in interviews and videos, you'd know that his tone is generally jovial and excitedly passionate. However, the reader of this audiobook would have you think that he is of a more grouchy, whining character. It's extremely unfortunate, especially since much of this book contains personal stories and a strong attempt to clear up past slander against the author. While I beleive the tone was intended to be playful and informative, the reader constantly sounds like he is annoyed and complaining. It does not reflect Daniken well, and I'm afraid it has the potential to scare off listeners who may be new to the author's work. Also, I found the forced fake accents while reading quotes to be distracting and distasteful.

As for the contents of the book, I definitely enjoyed it. If you're already familiar with Danikens work, it is yet another great read. However if you are new, I'd recommend reading Chariots of The Gods first.

Respect for the author but not always a pleasant read

I have huge respect for the author, as for anyone who sticks out his/her head and dares to push hypothesis forward into the science community that are way ahead of time and challenge current beliefs. I am aware those people run the risk to get mocked, lose credibility and even their jobs and licenses sometimes.

However, the anger about this, can be felt throughout the whole book and that wasn’t pleasant.

The interview at the end made up for it! He seems like a very nice guy. It was nice to get to know the guy who first launched the hypothesis of ancient astronauts.

Crazy shit but It might me true, who knows.

These books might be on to something. Who can really say with 100% accuracy what happened 50 thousand years ago?

Looking from different angles

I enjoy listening to books that look at different subjects from a different point of view, and this is one of those books! I believe this book is a good example of why different topics such as archaeology should be looked at in a inter-disciplinary way.

It will open your eyes about where we actually came from and questions religion in general.

Interesting- For a book of 2011

So much has shifted since 2011 it almost seems old news what is now mainstream alien mysticism as its own religion. Now a new generation of thinkers is looking deeper into the Fallen Angel projecting themselves as extraterrestrials to sway mankind into a mass movement to deny the creation and the one true God of Israel and his son Christ Jesus. This was all prophesied. and explained in detail in Revelation. It’s no longer a mystery its God Vs the dark principalities of the spirit realm and the first traitor to deny our Lord God and convince the angels to take wives of the daughters of men and break their vows to God. That first traitor is named Satan., Those fallen angels introduced themselves as star people to the ancients to make them see another story to creation besides God.. A.k.a. —ALIENS.. Good story though it was worth Listening.

Entertaining

What did you love best about History Is Wrong?

As usual Von Daniken doesn't disappoint. He's thorough and knowledgable. I only wish he would lose the chip on his shoulder when discussing how other's have disrespected him in his past.

Fun. Interesting. Butt-hurt.

My first EvD book and the premise is interesting and the material well backed up and explained, but dang he does a lot of griping about things that happened to him; in great detail that just isn’t that necessary to continue the main thoughts of the book.

A Rant

Struggled to finish the book when I hit chapter 4. Von Daniken seems to rant about how he was unfairly treated by the media. Yes, he was, but it goes on and on. I feel the book was written to send a rebuttal to his attacking contemporaries and the media. He also does not read the book. Good because I didn't miss understand a word. Bad because I had to keep telling myself that he wrote the book. There is something loveable about him, but not. without him reading the book.
